When I first wrote about casting a Brian Wilson biopic five years ago, for the role of the once bedridden pop genius you guys suggested Hurley from LOST and Jared Leto, because LOST was still a thing and Jared Leto was really fat. Ah, sometimes I miss you, 2006. Today brings reports of another, completely separate Brian Wilson biopic. That last one had Brian on board and was to be written by David Leaf, creator of the authorized Brian Wilson documentary Beautiful Dreamer. I can’t find updated info on it but did find this link to Brian and David talking about Beautiful Dreamer with Charlie Rose in ’05, so that is something.
About this new project, though: River Road Entertainmenet (via NYTimes Arts Beat) says it will “take an unconventional look at Wilson’s unique musical process as well as his struggles with mental illness, and how he managed to persevere as an artist with the love and support of his wife Melinda.” River Road has Brian’s life rights and has commissioned Oren Moverman (director, The Messenger) to write a screenplay.
So, here we are again, looking for the perfect actor to portray Brian Wilson. Add a link to a .jpg with your suggestions so we can have a colorful spread of Jorge Garcia headshots.

Rich Sommer from “Mad Men”!
Steve Zahn has had my vote for awhile
Spaced out surfer vibes ahoy!

Paul Dano from There Will Be Blood fame.
Yes.
Honestly, Ben Gibbard reminds me of young Wilson a bit.

I think Michael Angarano

or Jason Ritter
could be great for a young Brian Wilson up to the Pet Sounds/beginning of Smile period. But I don’t know about later in his life…
