Liturgy’s Greg Fox is an amazing drummer, one who showcases an otherworldly serenity, even when destroying his kit. Outside of Liturgy, he’s a NYC noise/art-rock staple who’s made sounds with Amen Dunes, Teeth Mountain, Guardian Alien, Family Of Love, the Boredoms Boadrum, and the Dan Deacon Ensemble. And many tweets about phở. My favorite non-Liturgy Fox-related music comes from his one-man GDFX project. It seems like the most personal and, I think, offers the best sense of Greg as a person. Take a listen to “LAOQI > TULA,” a collage of tracks 10 and 11 from his I Ching/Taoist/video game-inspired debut LP, One Thing. The combo helps explain the album’s title while offering a taste of the smashed-to-bits dance trip.
