Yes. It seems like Crystal Castles shows fall are either an amazing clusterfuck of energy, music and light or Alice Glass tantrums. You get a show both ways.

Personally I am glad to see some measure of astringent personality coming from SOMEONE in indie rock. Something to cut thru all the boring standard-issue apathetic, bland, folky, construction paper-and-yarn drab that seems to be di rigeur in Indieland.
I have seen CC twice this year and BOTH times they whipped the crowd into the kind of fevered, visceral response you never ever see from other acts. And we are talking BIG crowds churning and going apeshit.
Is it a pose? Possibly.
Is it obnoxiuous. Definitely.
Are they a couple of pretentious dicks that have prbably swiped some chiptune stuff. Almost undoubtedly.
But, nobody does what they do the way that they do it.
And they do it with an unapologetic roar.
I would rather watch Glass tantrum any night of the week over some bearded twee sweaterman hiding behind his laptop trying to pretend he’s not there to entertain.
Crystal Castles are assholes. Assholes that will rock your shit into your dick out of your ass.
Those “BIG crowds” are all still in junior high. I’ve seen terrible, terrible acts whip people into a mosh-pitting, punch-throwing frenzy too, doesn’t make them any good.

It’s not like it is some dense layered sound being performed live.

No doubt, she’s an asshole, but i can’t help it, she turns me on sooo bad.

If you READ the article that you linked or even watched the video, security violently yanked her back from the stage, which is a complete douche move to begin with. Maybe not dismantle drum set worthy (although it’s probably their drum set to begin with). But still: douche move.
The “sound issues” were probably just lending themselves to the tension more than anything else.
