On July 26th, the Strokes will make an honest single out of Angles‘ Elvis Costello-indebted “Taken For A Fool.” You may also remember that time the Strokes headlined MSG and confirmed the song’s Elvis influence by having him guest. That YouTube clip was shitty quality, yet a thrilling watch. You had to figure a pro-recording would surface eventually, and that it has in the form of “Taken For A Fool”‘s official b-side. If it wasn’t clear how crisp on point the Strokes were that night, or how perfectly Costello sounded fronting them, please enjoy the HQ recording, along with “Taken”‘s official new video directed by Laurent Briet, below:

say what you will about The Strokes, but I’ve really been digging the choruses on the new album more than the songs themselves.
A thousand times this. No idea why the verses have been so ordinary, but the hooks on this record are genius.
fun fun fun
Elvis Costello is just great. I used to watch episodes of his show all the time. There were so many great collaborations and discussions.
this video is ridiculous! one of the most unique and trippy videos I’ve ever seen!! I’ve watched it 6 times in the past two days… can’t get enough! Watch it now!
