Multi-instrumentalist/political journalist/cratedigger Anika DJ’d our 2011 SXSW collaboration with Sacred Bones. In the recap, I mentioned hoping she’d come back and actually play at some point: Her self-titled debut’s a dark dub/no wave/punk-inflected, electro-shrouded collection that plods and fucks with time and iced Nico-isms in compellingly distant, engaged ways. It was produced by Portishead’s Geoff Barrow — on it, she’s backed by his other band, Beak>. Get a taste via the three-song “No One’s There” digital EP. It features the album version of “No One’s There,” a dub “edit,” and a new one, “He Needs Me.”

I really her. Did you guys, by any chance, have a recording of the DJ mix? I’m wondering what she might have played (some interesting choices, I’m sure).
Thanks!
Dang, I meant to say that “I really like her”.
