As we’ve mentioned, Mew’s new album title, which we’re shortening to No More Stories… to avoid obnoxiousness, is in fact a full-on (and pretty bad) poem. Wouldn’t you know it, the collection’s first single “Repeaterbeater” also rhymes. Wacky Danes. You’ve already heard “Introducing Palace Players,” but now that introductions are out of the way, here’s this bit of airy, funky proggish rock. Fans will remain fans. Still, I can imagine the song going on a lot longer and being better for it. (They must’ve used up all their energy on that title.)

No More Stories Are Told Today I’m Sorry They Washed Away No More Stories the World Is Grey I’m Tired Let’s Wash Away is out 8/25 via Columbia. It’ll be preceded by the five-song No More Stories EP on Tuesday (7/30). The EP’s tracklist will look at least partially familiar:

01 “Introducing Palace Players”
02 “Repeaterbeater”
03 “Owl”
04 “Start”
05 Swimmer’s Chant”

I think I like this better than the previous one.

Love it, but why so short?

Keep in mind that often, at least on Mew’s previous album, one song will lead into the next one. I imagine this song is short because it will go right into the next track.

From how awesome the two songs that have been previewed on stereogum, it gets me more and more excited for their show at Pitchfork Fest.

  7. Why aren’t more people excited about this band/album? This is so much better than anything Grizzly Bear or Dirty Projectors have ever put out. It’s dynamic, exciting, and most importantly, energetic! Take a listen to this in the Gum Mix player, then to the songs around it. It’s so much more lively than all that mopey, weird other stuff.

Mew, the best band in the world today.

  8. They have 15 years under their belt and from AIW?N forward every album has come together as a different sound than its predecessor…we shall see what brooklyn has done to their opus
