The details are somewhat scarce and sure to be filled in to minute detail in the coming hours, but all that really matters is this sad fact: TMZ and LA Times report that Michael Jackson has died of cardiac arrest. He was 50. Holy shit. R.I.P.
Michael Jackson never really grew up. His life in the Jackson 5 gave way to a childhood that was completely abnormal and separate from society. So why is everyone surprised that he loved children? He had sleepovers with them. If he were 12 years old, it would not be inappropriate at all. Sure, when you’re 35 and having sleepovers with kids, it will raise questions. But we have to understand that life as we all know it today was not experienced by Michael Jackson, so to expect him to live according to the expectations of today’s normal society is just wrong. I’m not saying anything here about the molestation charges–of which he was acquitted–i’m just talking about his “questionable” lifestyle. He was a good guy. Eccentric, sure. Weird, definitely. A pedophile? If that is the only term we have for grown men who like kids, then yes he was a pedophile.
Rest in peace, Mikey. You will be missed.
I’m 19, and I consider you one of the greatest musical artists of all time.
What a sad generation we are. Comment boards will be the death of morals, standards, self respect, and class. Hate apparently is the new love. RIP Mike, the final nail in the coffin of my youth.
Our society destroyed the man. His life begun with tragedy with the severe abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. I’m just proud to have been brought up in the generation when MJ was king, and not the clown show the media helped create – we live in sad and cynical times and Mike’s optimism will be sadly sadly missed. Messages of love and peace may be frowned apon for being to earnest or corny, but they resonate with all of us somehwree inside. I hope that never dies, or did it jusr die yesterday? Sad times. The INternet seems to bring out the worst in human beings. Damn this world, damn the evil in it.
Not to get red negatives next to my name, but the guy did molest children. How many documented cases would you all need to see to turn on him? 10? 20? 100? If the neighborhood molester made great music, would you let him take a crack at your kid?
Do you know the difference between an accusation and a conviction? Did you ever consider that maybe people were trying to make a buck off of one the most well known and wealthy personalities in the world? Not saying he’s innocent, because we don’t know and don’t have the FACTS, but he’s never been proven guilty either. You’re just rolling with the “conviction by headline” status quo.
Nice thread. People talking shit about Jacko, and people talking shit about people talking shit about Jacko. The sad thing is that it doesn’t surprise me at all that this is how things fleshed out.
I volunteer for the Humane Society. Never in a thousand years would I believe that a person would try to insult me by referencing my “carbon footprint.” I tremble at your douchiness. Tremble.
All the Michael Jackson haters should listen to “Childhood Theme” and give him the benefit of the doubt. While you’re at it, read up on both molestation cases and you’ll find that he was not found guilty on either. I’m sure many of you have been accused of something wrongfully and it stuck. It sucked, didn’t it?
Michael Jackson was a tortured soul and always looking for a proper childhood, which got him in trouble sometimes but I really think he was a good guy. Rest in peace indeed.
…apparently some are still blind to the fact that MICHAEL JACKSON WAS ACQUITTED OF ALL MOLESTATION CHARGES IN 2005. After the fact, members of the prosecution even admitted that they didn’t think Michael was a child molester, but made some very unwise decisions about sharing his bed with children.

You’re right nickolas. Just cause a comment is on the internet doesn’t mean God can’t see it.
This is pretty tough for everyone…
But not as tough as it is for the guy who had to perform CPR of Jackson. That must have been awful.
Un verdadero ídolo e ícono, a pesar de todo. Really sad, but we keep everything he did back in the good days!
RIP MJ

I will miss Michael Jackson, because he made me look less weird and appear more sane and rational
RIP Michael Jackson.
Sorry the world was so awful to you at times. I guess it’s the sad trade-off of having so much talent.
Forever a fan,
Christopher
jesus. first mj. now billy mays. this is a conspiracy

I’m much more upset about Billy Mays. Michael Jackson’s molestation was more damaging to the world than Billy’s bullshit products.
and what might your contribution to the world be, exactly, besides bullshit comments on a website and a carbon footprint?

billy mays jokes on an internet message board = funny
getting smugly offended and bragging about your benevolence on an internet message board = silly
