Noel Gallagher’s debut single and video for “The Death Of You And Me” is here. In the clip for the countryish tune, Noel is a patron at a dreary desert diner who inspires a waitress to escape her life by pushing her into a swimming pool. More importantly it delivers another classic singalong chorus from the former Oasis songwriter.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is out 10/17 on Sour Mash.

  1. City, Pretty , Pity… Genius.. How does he come up with these rhymes??? Even uses the word Sunshine.. He is really pushing the boundries….

  2. Definitely better than anything Liam can put out.

  3. This reminds me of the Importance of Being Idle in a good way. The old west desert vibe works for him surprisingly. Looking forward to the rest of the album.

  4. Great tune has a whimsical vibe reminiscent of D’Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman? and of course the Importance of Being Idle. The brass adds a nice touch akin to Life In A Glass House by Radiohead and Eskimo Lament by The Coral.

    8/10

  5. Sure, the lyrics are trite. And yes, the music lacks originality. And I suppose the video is uninspired and Noel Gallagher is kind of a douche and the song is forgettable and the title of his record is bizarre and Oasis was never all that great. But the song is pretty catchy.

  6. Forget Beady Eye, this is still pretty bad late era Beatles wanna be. If the rest of High Flying Birds is like this Noel might make Beady Eye look good.

  7. Sounds like a Sean Lennon song.

  8. I think like all good Oasis songs, it’s about escape from the desperation of your surroundings and wanting something better. It may not be the deepest song ever, but also like all good Oasis songs, there’s no way you can deny that chorus.

  9. This is all very tasteful.

  10. It’s such a shame they can’t get back together. Saw him on ITV and he just wouldn’t commit to working with his brother again ;(
