Ive seen this from MTV.com….
ok. WHY WHY WHY would VH1 make their site inaccessible for MACS?! bah!
What’s up with Brandon Flowers’ perpetually petrified face/stance/”swagger” (for the Diddy-types) when there are cameras around?
First on Carson Daly’s jawn and now here. Weird. Are their shows the same way?
Wha…I got through the site and i’m using an ibook.
Funny that you mention that. I really like “The Killers”.. their CD is excellent. However, my friends saw them at the KROQ Weenie Roast here in Los Angeles, and said that they were no good live. Say it ain’t so!
P.S. Can’t view the videos on my iBook. They ain’t got no love for Maccers on VH1.com
I’m on a Mac too, AND dial-up, so I think it’s no dice either way for me. Are these guys really that good? Entertainment Weekly gave their album a terrible review. Their Metacritic score is in the 60′s, which is marginally in the green, but still not that great.
I got past this by spoofing my User-Agent in Safari as “Windows MSIE 6.0″, but then it started whining about Windows Media Crapware and I lost interest.
anyone know anywhere to get mp3s of this stuff? I like some of it better than the ablum cuts. Sorry mac guys
yeah i was trying win media player, real player, everything off safari on my powerbook and nada. vh1 kept freaking out and saying it wouldn’t work. they really need to get with the times!
they say a truly good song can be stripped down to an acoustic guitar and still retain the brilliance of the original version… if so.. i don’t think we can even consider these songs at all. just my opinion.
The Killers are the blogosphere’s favorite band? I read a lot of blogs, and I’ve only ever seen them mentioned on two or three.
i second the need for mp3′s inquiry. these are amazing versions of the songs and i need them on my ipod by tomorrow at 3 pm. please somebody please
The problem for me was that the vocals were too loud, especially in “Mr. Brightside.” Take it down a notch, stop yelling, and emote a little. They’re good songs that need actual acoustic interpretation, not just acoustic guitars.
plug plug: I got the MP3 of “Somebody Told Me” over at keyofe.blogspot
I didn’t rip the others because his vocals were kinda bad. He’s way off key in parts of Brightside, poor guy. He sounded kinda bad on Pepsi Smash too. I just think Brandon is freeeeeeeaked out by TV Cameras. He just seems so nervous.
I never heard of them till I saw them live on night, and I thought they were great live.
Chad,
perhaps a good example of that theory is showcased right now on http://www.catbirdseat.org, where Jose Gonzalez has covered the The Knife song “Heartbeats” and the song still shines through with just an acoustic while the original is very keyboard driven electro-pop – see Fluxblog.
Yip the Killers are great.
I met them, that Brandon is soo hot! Unbelievable guy!! xx
