Here’s the first MP3 from Neon Indian’s excellent new LP Era Extraña. As seen over a series of short video-teasers, Alan Palomo holed up in Helsinki for part of the album process (work was finished upstate New York with Dave Fridmann), though the album itself looks more to the UK, channeling old 4AD, Jesus & Mary Chain/MBV shoegaze, and Boards Of Canada electronics in varying measure. “Fallout” is a romantic lead single, weary, sultry, last dance at the prom, dressed all pretty-in-pink type stuff. go Palomo!
It’s not bad. I really like the direction of where the production is going but the music just doesn’t quite appeal me to the way his other songs do. Maybe it’s his voice, I don’t know.
Vocally it sounds very JAMC. I like it!
Is there too much reverb being used in today’s music? http://auralfood.blogspot.com/
I actually enjoyed this. Not as catchy as “dead beat summer” but good enough to ear repeated listens while chillin’ on a sunday afternoon.
I hope the fun isn’t gone.
Reminds me of INXS
