Yo La Tengo perform tonight on the John McEnroe Show on CNBC.
Not only are they the “house band’ for the entire program, but McEnroe himself joins them for a cover of “Beat On The Brat.”
Tune in at 10 PM to see the show. It ain’t gonna be on much longer.
Here’s YLT’s awesome awesome awesome “Sugarcube” video (Real).
“Do you think that Mr. Beck got an all-access laminate backstage pass by not learning how to bow his guitar or sample the bowing of a guitar?!”

jesus mary and joseph! why have i never seen that video before? blimey!
Ugggghhhhh, I only caught the last 20 minutes of the show; pretty unbearable. Congratulations McEnroe on joining the ranks of Chevy Chase and Magic Johnson as one of the most clueless, god-awful talk show hosts. Good to hear that CNBC is putting that show out of it?s misery. Always glad to see YLT, though. Curious to see how that last song would have went.
Are those Mr. Show guys in everything?

i’ve watched this video about 10 times today. i don’t get sick of it…magical.
my fav part: “i envy you…there’s so much rocking to do..i wish you luck”
annoying.
This is one of my favorite music videos of all time. Funny dialogue and one of the greatest power pop garage songs ever put on tape. My favorite moment is when Ira is practicing trashing a hotel room and the instructor is asking him to get down off the bed. YLT has a great sense of humor, as anyone who has been to their shows or read the letters on their web site knows. The Tom Courtenay video is funny too–it asks “what if the Beatles reunited and YLT opened for them?” BTW, Yo La Tengo are going to be on McEnroe again tonight. I guess they taped two shows’ worth of guests the day they were the house band. It’s so painful to watch that show, but worth it to see/hear YLT. Maybe he’ll interview them tonight?
