The new video for Lil Wayne’s Auto-Tune lament “How To Love” pulls off something impressive: In its five minutes, it packs in about twice the hysterical narrative melodrama that you’d see in the average CMT video. An aborted abortion! Spousal abuse! Child abuse! A self-loathing stripping sequence! An HIV diagnosis! Forced dialog! Tearful breakdowns! An impossibly lame false ending! Seriously, Martina McBride watched this shit and was like, “Jesus, Wayne, this is a bit much.”
Director Chris Robinson is usually way more dependable (he did “Bad Boy For Life!”), but if this is what it takes for Tha Carter IV to get a release, then whatever. Watch it below.
Tha Carter IV gets its release 8/29 on Cash Money/Young Money/Universal Motown.

yikes.
guess what? the carter IV is gonna knock everybody’s socks off! i don’t care what anybody says! long live weezy!
and whatttttttt?.. about this lil description of my boy’s video? i thought it had a lot of nuance and took a lot of unexpected, non-cliche turns.
no matter what stereogum says, it definitely clinches chris robinson as the winner of the 2011 BET award for best music video director.
DON’T YOU DARE THUMBS DOWN MY POST!
surprising: 1. the video is not that bad and 2. as far as auto-tune ballads go, weezy gets a pass for this one, it’s really not as terrible as described, it’s a little maybe kind of good
Wow. I had always assumed this song was about a stripper.
