This week’s Drop had a stringed, burlesqued, Gypsy-cum-Coloradan tune that came courtesy of Little Miss Sunshine soundtrackers and Siouxsie coverers DeVotchka. You can hear the rollicking “Transliterator” from the quartet’s forthcoming ANTI- debut A Mad and Faithful Telling, and read multi-tasking vocalist Nick Urata’s thoughts on the song, here. Also, because we like to remain optimistic in matters of some seasons coming to an end, new one’s beginning, we offered the chance to two winners to each win a pair of Ray-Ban 3025 Aviators along with Wyclef Jean’s new album. Why is Wyclef summer? Come on, you know “Hips Don’t Lie” was the hot weather jam in ‘06. See the shades and Wyclef in a pair of his own after the pumps in the bump.

The Ray-Bans:

And, see, you can act all cool and mellow once you’ve had the balls to rock out with Paul Simon using only three strings. For example:

Slightly different sunglasses, totally the same vibe. Two winners each get the sunglasses and a copy of Jean’s Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant. You can enter to win here. Keep in mind, too, that you can still enter to win the snowboarding-style skateboard, aka the Freebord. Do it.

CONTEST ENDS 02/13/08 AT 12PM EST.

Wow! What a beautiful song. Devotchka really has carved out a niche for themselves. And Nick Urata is a real heart-breaker.

  2. That’s gorgeous, but not a surprise! Can’t wait to hearing the full CD. Keep ruling!

Sometimes the universe drops the perfect song into your lap, just at the moment you need to listen to it. With this song, you’ll want to listen, whether you need to or not.

SO EXCITED. I fell in love with these guys the night I saw them open for the Dresden Dolls. I’m really excited that this song is a definite turn from their sound on How It Ends, but still that same lovable Devotchka. March 18 can’t come soon enough.

I feel in love with devotchka right after they released “How It Ends” and consider them easily one of the Best bands making music in our generation. I like the song, it sounds a bit more “sufjan” than their previous Mariachi fare, but I like it. Two thumbs up…

  7. I play it on and on. Fabulous.

Wow. What a perfectly amazing song. I can’t even say I’m surprised though because Devotchka never disappoints me. I can’t wait to hear more. Thanks for posting!
