This week’s Drop had a stringed, burlesqued, Gypsy-cum-Coloradan tune that came courtesy of Little Miss Sunshine soundtrackers and Siouxsie coverers DeVotchka. You can hear the rollicking “Transliterator” from the quartet’s forthcoming ANTI- debut A Mad and Faithful Telling, and read multi-tasking vocalist Nick Urata’s thoughts on the song, here. SO EXCITED. I fell in love with these guys the night I saw them open for the Dresden Dolls. I’m really excited that this song is a definite turn from their sound on How It Ends, but still that same lovable Devotchka. March 18 can’t come soon enough.
I feel in love with devotchka right after they released “How It Ends” and consider them easily one of the Best bands making music in our generation. I like the song, it sounds a bit more “sufjan” than their previous Mariachi fare, but I like it. Two thumbs up…
