“A little less than a human being/ A little less than a happy high/ A little less than a suicide.”

Man, that’s depressing. Probably not the best

to keep on repeat while working late on a Monday night. It’s one of those eerily prophetic tracks that will give you the chills; best place your pre-order now. Full lyrics at morecowbell. Love that George Harrisony lick too.

OK I admit I could use some Scissor Sisters about now.

  1. Nice track! You’re right–Scissor Sistors is a good idea for a pick-me-up, tho.

‘Passing Feeling’ is pretty rough too, lyrically speaking. But yeah, FF is an intense song to listen to on repeat.

  3. Where are you guys finding these songs? I’ve visited all the P2P’s and came back with nada.

I’ve only heard the live versions that came from a show he played at Northsix Brooklyn some time in June 2003. The mix isn’t so hot (it’s really quiet), but the quality overall is good.

  5. Speaking of live Elliott Smith, here’s a show from July 4th, 2000. Elliott and his Figure 8 band, probably the best sound quality and performance I’ve heard. They do “Strung Out Again,” which is on the new album as well.

I’ve listened to this song on repeat. I don’t feel like killing myself or popping pills or anything.

This either means two things: 1. I’m a heartless bitch, or 2. I’m unbalanced and have heard/been through worse.

I am going to eat a cookie.

  11. If you have bittorrent, you may be able to find all the leaked tracks for the entire CD at indietorrents.com, but you didn’t hear that from me.

I think this song was playing at the end of Rescue Me (Denis Leary show on FX) last night. I recognized the lyrics from reading them here. My new favorite show of the summer, btw — everyone should watch it. Funny, quirky, very touching.

  14. Scott, bring back the track, yo! I got here all late and shit.
