The Paste-y supergroup of Conor, Matt, Yim, and Mike drop another pair of tracks from their forthcoming mindmeld. These aren’t as free as was “Say Please,” you’ll have to pony up a couple bucks at iTunes. But at least one of them is considerably more folky, and both seem to have more easily identifiable songwriters: There’s “Dear God (Sincerely M.O.F.)” which is undeniably a Yim Yames yam (despite each Monster taking a turn at the mic), all drum loop and harp and minor key soul croon; and there’s “The Sandman, The Brakeman, And Me” which tips toward the M. Ward side of the Triple A axis, Matt handling all the lead vocals in an exceedingly pretty and mellow open-tuned railroad folk song, and yes trust Matt to finally bring the folk to the band name. Buy “Dear God” here, and “The Sandman” here. And thanks for the tip, Tony.
UPDATE: Both tracks are streaming in full at MySpace.
Monsters Of Folk is out 9/22 via Shangri-La. They’re talking this act on the road.

Ugh! Do I want to hear these songs right now? Yes. Am I willing to pay $1 for each download? No.
I will wait until I can get an actual artifact and buy the record.
you can hear them at their myspace- http://www.myspace.com/monstersoffolk
the sandman, the brakeman, and me is very pleasant. would’ve fit nicely on hold time. i liked dear god too. definitely looking forward to this record more now.
“Dear God” is so so so bad.
Still needs m.o.f.o.l.k…..I went there. The thirty seconds doesn’t do it’s justice. I am pleased that they have actually written a folk song though.
Is a Yim Yames like a Sasha Fierce?
Yes! A M.O.F. post! These comments should turn into a full scale riot shortly.
I’m starting to think that the name of this band is ironic. Especially with the Bee Gees driven Dear God.
Though I do enjoy it!
Dear God = Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Part 3?
I really dig “Dear God.”
Three completely different, all wonderful songs so far.
The relative weakness of Conor’s voice is very obvious on Dear God.
yim yames is a soul brotha!
Dear God!
all three are good, but “sandman” is probably the best. that m. ward continues to put out quality shit.
