As revealed yesterday, the inaugural APW Festival — AKA Jersey Coachella — will indeed feature two nights of Radiohead. And one of Jack Johnson, which we predicted. (JJ’s also playing Coachella and Bonnaroo; there is no escape, friends.). All Points West, which hits Liberty State Park 8/8-8/10, is touting its Radiohead coup as follows: “This marks the first time that a cutting-edge band will headline multiple nights of a major U.S. music festival.” Meaning moe.down is a minor festival or moe. is not cutting-edge! Burn. Anyway, two Radiohead setlists means they’ll play “Creep.” Hurrah.

  5. david  |   Posted on Feb 21st, 2008

Is Jack Johnson REALLY that popular? I thought he only had a moderate following in the mainstream, at most.

  6. juice springsteen  |   Posted on Feb 21st, 2008

uh yea this lineup is weaksauce.
ill go if these people are all in the same day:

see. all good festivals are now moving east. ugh.
except for that one in vegas. but thats still far for me!

  9. CARLOS  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

RADIOHEAD WILL PLAY PLENTY OF SHOWS HERE IN CALI. ITS STILL GOOD.

  10. Finchmeister  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

    Weak.

    Going first day.

Why is Jack Johnson so popular? He does the Curious George soundtrack and the response is ‘How cute!!’ rather than ‘Sell out’.

    • stellamarie  |   Posted on Jun 3rd, 2008

you idiot. you obviously dont know him. stop being the ignorant fuck that you are ok. and that goes to everyone of you. the societal cohesion of mainstream brainwashed norms. grow a dick! he has a LOT of songs than just the curious george alright. but ofcourse thats just what you people are familiar of since you guys dont know any better. seriously!

  11. Elliot  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

nobody yelled “sell out” because nobody gave him indie credibility to begin with.

  12. plastics  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

cali people need to stop complaining. they are playing 5 damn cities in your state. ingrates

  13. ryuk  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

Curious George > Radiohead, Jack Johnson, Animal Collective, and you

  14. george  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

  15. $9 oooh!

  16. mhug  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

Ugh, I must be getting old. I only recognize five artists on that list. :-/

  17. Josh A  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

why the fuck does Jack Johnson get the biggest lettering? does anybody still listen to him? every album is the same stoner/surfer/summertime BS. anyway.. its early in the morning… i need coffee.

  18. ACLU  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

Jack gets top billin’ cause he’s white.

  19. Qqqq  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

I was expecting to see a line-up announcement with the amount of bands that Coachella, Lolla, or ACL usually have. I am super excited to see radiohead for two nights in a row but the rest of this line-up is ultimately disappointing! I’m looking forward to Andrew Bird, Girl Talk, Animal Collective…..but when I went to ACL there were around 40 bands I was psyched to see. I’m not trying to complain but I guess I just had huge expectations that were obviously not met.

  20. Allah  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

Jersey is pretty much the armpit of America.

  21. Bender Bending Rodriguez  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

Hey, nice photo! I can see my car getting stolen on Grand Street in Jersey City.

  22. matt  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

your car won’t get stolen on grand street. luxury condos (errrr.. i mean the dream worth living) are there now

  23. The top billing looks almost like it was ripped from The Onion.

    Classic: WTF…??

  24. derek  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

From this, we can infer that Jack Johnson has pictures of Paul Tollett doing something.

  25. joykick  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

Jack Johnson = a Frat Boy’s Elliott Smith

  26. NickG  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

Why is everyone being so hard on Jack Johnson for? I think hes pretty cool.

  27. NickG  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

  29. genevieve  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

i am so on day one like white on rice.

  30. mick jones  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

jack johnson is like fallout boy, it makes these white suburban kids who listen to top 40 radio feel like they’re “rocking out”

  31. j'ffffff  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

Radiohead & Underworld on the same bill makes it totally worth it… two of the best live acts out there! They seriously need to beef up the electronica end tho… let’s get some Basement Jaxx and Royskopp on there!

and when did everyone (supposedly) start loving Jack Johnson so much? Do they sell his cds at Starbucks now or something? uggh…

  32. stages  |   Posted on Feb 22nd, 2008

is there only going to be one stage at this ‘festival?’ because spread out over three days that’s like 12 bands a day (or 11 since radiohead is graciously playing two days). hmmmmm…..

and NickG, everyone is so hard on jack johnson because he has no cred and his fans post the same thing three times on blog sites that shouldn’t be talking about jack johnson to begin with. and it’s because HE BLOWS!!!

  33. andrew  |   Posted on Feb 23rd, 2008

    Hmm…

It’s not *bad*, but it’s not particularly exciting as well.

However, it’s in my home state, and includes Radiohead, Underworld, and Andrew Bird. That’s pretty enticing if you ask me.

Perhaps they should just copy the entire lineup from one of the major UK festivals.

  34. jack jonson  |   Posted on Feb 24th, 2008

heeeyyy !!! that for money WTF !!!!! leave me in peace and buy the tkts fast !

ps> thanks NickG your are the one

  35. alex smith  |   Posted on Feb 24th, 2008

    I insist JJ

  36. Jones, Brian, Jones  |   Posted on Feb 26th, 2008

Gross. This lineup (except for Radiohead, Black Angels) makes me very very very angry with the residents in Vineland, NJ who protested a festival from happening there and succeeded. Would have been constructed from the minds of England’s great concert promoters and put NJ as a summer festival must for years to come. This “All Points West” does just that, points all festival seekers in NJ to head on out to the West. And Jack Johnson is the worst part about it. Makes NJ look like we have no Musical Intellect. I have Johnson now more than ever. I will be buying a ticket tho haha

  37. fffff  |   Posted on Feb 26th, 2008

with the exception of Radiohead, this is all acts that should be playing at BB Kings.

  38. intelligence  |   Posted on Feb 27th, 2008

This is a great lineup….and yes Jack Johnson is no Radiohead, but he is used as marketing at these festivals to attract a diverse crowd.

  39. Angelo  |   Posted on Feb 27th, 2008

Radiohead is more overrated than Jack Johnson even, go ahead and pretend Yorke has a “lilting falsetto” it’s garbage, just like Jersey. Booya

  40. Sharon  |   Posted on Feb 27th, 2008

    Why can’t Bonnaroo get Radiohead???

  41. This lineup would be better if Radiohead was axed and Jack Johnson played 2 sets.

  42. JERSEY GETS RADIOHEAD!!! LAUGH IT UP, KIDS!!!

new jersey is truly the greatest state in the nation, though these tix are mad overpriced.

  43. Alfred  |   Posted on Feb 29th, 2008

dude, Radiohead is enough for me to go to this fest. I mean Jersey never, EVER gets good indie bands to play let alone Radiohead. And Rogue Wave and Animal Collective? But it does need to some other bands. I’d go for

    1. Decemberists

    2. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!

    3. TV On The Radio

    4. The Shins

    5. Tokyo Police Club

    6. The Horrors

    7. Regina Spektor

    8. Fiona Apple

    and Cold War Kids.

    Jersey REPRESENT!

  44. The talented artist Jack Johnson has succeeded in many fields. As a singer and songwriter, musician; he has gathered numerous fans during his musical career. His style has attracted a great number of fans in this is so obvious in his concerts. Once I decide to attend one of his concerts but tickets were so pricy then I missed it because I couldn?t afford the price. Lately a friend has recommended me a site to compare ticket prices.
    http://www.ticketwood.com/concerts/Jack-Johnson-Tickets/index.php
I will always look for the lowest prices because I?m thrifty and I do want to see my favourites with fewer fees. Of course I?m not mean!!!!

  45. Jack Johnson is amazing in concert. I have seen him four times and he never disappoints. I hope he puts out some new material soon, its been far too long!
