Mastodon’s new video is for “Curl Of The Burl,” their single from the new album The Hunter, and it plays out like an acid-fried B-movie. If you love Evil Dead 2, you’ll probably find something to like about it. If you don’t love Evil Dead 2, you and I would probably not be very good friends. Robert Schober directs, but the video concept comes from Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor, who seems to be the band’s concepts guy. The caveman from the “Divinations” video would be proud. Not so sure I like this song… what’s happening to Mastodon? Sounds like a 90′s Corrosion of Conformity jam.
Sadly, bad songs from Mastodon are still better than good songs from many other bands.
