Last night SSPU brought “Panic Switch,” the big single from their latest LP, to the Ed Sullivan Theatre. The album’s called Swoon, which is pretty much the only word you can use about Letterman’s response to the performance. Dave even got the drummer to get up and take some applause before telling Nikki he had a fever and she was “gonna get it.” (Not as dirty as it sounds. Maybe.)
Swoon is out via Dangerbird.

It’s definitely as dirty as it sounds.
It’s fun when Dave genuinely enjoys the musical acts on his show although I’m not crazy about the neutered version of the song
big fat meh…
So the main point of comparison with Smashing Pumpkins is that this singer is excruciating to listen to as well, right? Just kidding. Though the bassist does look like she’d be far better off on a farm, far away from this band.
You’re an idiot.
Thanks for pointing that out. You rock and have great comments! Keep sharing.
This band is NOT shoegaze.
I’m not a big fan of the band but I really dig this song and this was a pretty good performance.
I may give this album a chance… soon.
not sure what’s stopping you, but you’re missing out
I don’t see the Smashing Pumpkins comparison… maybe if the lead singer shaved his head.
1.) This song has zero hook. Kind of boring.
2.) The lead singer runs cross country for the university of texas:

that farm girl bass rocks my world. lead singer should scream like he did in the bridge part more often.
they butchered the song! Why did they lop off chunks off the song???
After this, Craig Ferguson was supposed to be on, but instead was Teen Jeopardy. WTF?
this song is beyond mediocre and follows the same exact structure as “lazy eye or whatever their last single was.
Panic Switch is my favorite new band.

Also, I didn’t realize that Ethan Hawke even had a band. Good for him.
That drummer sure is active for someone with a fever. I just can’t figure out if I like them or not. Maybe too much pumpkins to it. The singer looks like he could join Kings of Leon.
what’s up with the drummer’s Battles-esque super high crash cymbal?
sounds pretty good. still pretty bummed i haven’t seen them live.
In a move not unlike Brian Wilson hiring The Wondermints to be his backing band, it’s surprising that Billy Corgan hasn’t hired Silversun Pickups to be his backing band for that Smashing Pumpkins stand-up comedy routine he’s putting on these days (at a Best Buy near you).
(The notable exception being that The Wondermints and Brian Wilson are good.)
I’m not a huge fan either, but I liked this performance a lot. He should definitely scream more, my biggest problem with the band was always the singer’s voice.
They are definitely my SP fix until Billy Corgan can get his act together. This could be my album of the year so far.
Yeah Nikki, rip that bass line!!!!!!!! Love SSP
Hahaaaa… #2 noted. Annnddd.. hilarious.
i nearly fell asleep.. this band tries so so so hard, and falls so so so short…
some clown on keys and iha’s cousin on rock band drums.. give me a break..
this band is really good
not boring at all as many people is saying
and now that a lot of goys said… they do have that smashing pumpkings feeling.. but not too much
and why they complaint about??? smashing pumpkings are nearly dead now -_-
Didn’t know Wendy Hiller played bass.
this is a terrible version with terrible sound…
of a great song by a great band.
great albums, great live shows,
really nice folks.
p.s. appreciate the d’arcy humor up there.
