It’s autumn, you guys. FINALLY, amirite? Like Meg Ryan says in Corban’s favorite movie, something something bouquet of newly sharpened pencils. And aside from pencils, a cool thing about autumn is all the new TV shows to keep us company. Did you watch X Factor? What about New Girl? Zooey Deschanel sings in it a lot, and even wrote the theme song because she is our generation’s Chuck Lorre. I think the show will stick around for a while. Unfortunately can’t say the same for 2 Broke Girls whose laugh track and references to Arcade Fire and Coldplay (the lead characters work at a diner in Williamsburg) came off as desperate and unfunny. I’m torn between being nostalgic and not caring. The first real concert I ever went to was R.E.M. at the Pacific Amphitheater on the Green tour. Everything from Chronic Town through Document probably rates somewhere in my personal top 100. But I’ve not paid much attention since Monster. Tastes change, I guess, both mine and theirs. On another note, I’m never really sure why bands, especially ones that have been around this long, need to announce breakups. It’s not like a store going out of business, alerting customers that they won’t be there anymore. Bands either tour or they don’t. They release new albums or they don’t. Look at GBV. There’s very little difference, if any, between “breaking up” and “just kinda not doing it anymore, until at some point maybe we are”. |

Act that would do well: Annie Clark. Act that would not do well: St. Vincent. If it were left to singing, she’s got the look, the voice, everything. If she sang AND played St. Vincent songs, I think that scratchy, angular, experimental shit would freak them the fuck out (though I absolutely love it). |

I know this isn’t related to this at all, but because I’ve got no cool friends, just wanted to say here: how about that Brandon review on P4K for a BNM given to Wolves in the Throne Room??? Holy shit. Never expected to see them give one to an atmospheric black metal band like WiiTR. Too cool.

I don’t get why I got downvoted so much for being humble, but I’ll take that as my fellow commenters way of saying I should embrace the love of the ‘Gum. (If you must, the elusive link is now in my profile just as Stereogum intended it to be and that’s all I’ll say about that.) Pretty happy about my 9th place finish on the best comments side of the coin for a change, too. It’s good to be green.

It’s great to see Michael Robenalt cement himself as the number one commenter in Stereogum, although after two strong releases he will have to hold off other top-tier acts like MikeyObviously, djfreshie and Conor Johnson, all of whom have highly anticipated comments expected soon.
The wildly uneven Michael_ is struggling to find his niche, while hyped newcomer The Aura of the H-Man will want to deliver on his sophomore effort.
Finally, fans continue to wait for the comeback of immensely popular comment pioneer Chris Trash.
As a sophomore comment Michael’s REM influenced comment fails to reach the widespread success as the matter of fact style of the BNC’d Tha Carter IV criticism.

i would like to explain why my album is coming out later than was first intended
after humongous and fun adventurous work with the app builders we handed in the music for the app box last may i felt sonically it fitted that underworld of apps and virtual reality like a glove , kinda acoustic and clean with a slick dark sub but somehow the cd needed more blood and muscles , oxygen and stuff
i felt the album had different kinda growth potential than the app box and it is important to follow those hunches even though they are slippery and you don’t know sometimes where they are taking you
i played biophilia for few weeks in manchester and some of the songs grew while playing them live and i decided to add some of this into the album , i ended up even using a live recording of one of the songs on the album . take my hunch the whole distance but in order to do that i had to put the album back a bit
my friend , the incredibly talented music maker leila arab came to iceland with no notice and added some sonic sculpting , especially to the bottom end and the great talented mastering engineer mandy parnell came over as well and helped me give the whole thing more warmth and flesh somehow
i am really happy i did this , seems like biophilia the album has a body
leila also introduced me to “current value” who now has put a new beat into one of the songs

The only phrase of the delay justification you can keep in mind is: “…somehow the cd needed more blood and muscles, oxygen and stuff”. Too much ado about probably something big to come. So Björk, you’ve already become this year’s Kanye!
And no, I didn’t forget the Watch the Throne release. It just seems that Kanye West has become less attention-grabbing than last year. Thom Yorke, Justin Vernon and Björk got the most post-debut blogosphere hype so far this year. Oh, by the way, see what I did? I mixed up two Björk album titles in one word. ;)
