Children Of Pop - "Charge"

We don’t know much about Children Of Pop, but here’s what we have: They come from Houston, they make sleepy bedroom synthpop, and they’re now part of the Lefse Records roster. Stereogum overlord Scott Lapatine says he hears some Tears For Fears in the vocals on their track “Charge,” which appears to be the only Children Of Pop song that exists on the internet. Grab it below.

Oh, and here’s something else about Children Of Pop: On their Twitter, they actually describe themselves as “an independent chillwave music idea.” Isn’t chillwave like emo, in that every chillwave artist hates being called chillwave?

  1. slow news day at Stereogum? what a lifeless track. what, anything bathed in reverb is cool now?

  2. opinions are entitled. idk what cool is, but these vocals are awesome. gimme more

  3. i really dug this stuff too. i know its really trendy to be smug and dismissive but i’m of the ‘if you don’t like it, listen to something else’ camp. that said…i really fuckin like this and i’m gonna look forward to a release on Lefse. also, congrats to children of pop for teamin up with a fine label.

  4. Children of Pop is great–uncluttered and refreshing. The layered vocal harmonies are as euphoric as they are spiritually uplifting. Glad to have posted this track a while back before they signed to one of our favorite labels, Lefse Records, a great label to have picked this up.
