Last month, Tom Waits let us hear the title track from his new album Bad As Me, and it was a vintage Waits junkyard-screamer of the highest order. Today, he released another track from the album as a single on iTunes, and in classic Waits fashion, this one sounds nothing like the last. “Back In The Crowd” is a lilting, Latin-influenced midtempo track that finds Waits sounding way more contented than usual. It features guitar work from longtime collaborator Marc Ribot and Los Lobos frontman David Hidalgo, and it’s below.
