Timothy Meskers and Mark Saddlemire formed the psychedelic pop group Brown Recluse in 2006, releasing the six-song Black Sunday EP. The duo added four more members before recording The Soft Skin in 2007. The four-song EP’s finally available via Slumberland this September. To get a taste, take a listen to closer “Contour And Context” and see the difference an expanded band can make for a couple of guys who list the Zombies and Os Mutantes as influences. Also, don’t be surprised if you start thinking about Belle & Sebastian after a minute or so.

The Soft Skin EP is out 9/8 via Slumberland. Expect a debut full-length in early 2010, also via Slumberland.

I also thought they were called Brown Recluse Sings… i guess the “Sings” has fallen by the wayside.
either way, they’re a good bunch of dudes, so i’m glad they’re getting some recognition!
