This is great. I love their sense of embracing pop culture. I’m sure Coco is happy about it, too. They really love their CW shows with two G’s in the name, though, huh? (First Gilmore Girls, now Gossip Girl.)
Starpower is pretty much the reason I’m a SY fan. EVOL was the first album of theirs I had, and that was my favorite song on it. Hearing an acoustic version 23 later will be rad.
This is exactly what Sonic Youth should be up to. For close to 30 years now, they’ve served as a kind of pop culture garbage disposal: they take everything in and turn it into a glorious mess. Looking forward to this!
