Harmonious folk revivialists Fleet Foxes recently wrapped a headlining tour, four shows of which came with a treat for bargain hunters via opening act Dungen. Back when Robin had a public Twitter, he tweeted up the Swedes as one of his obsessions so the pairing must have been as fun for him as those lucky enough to nab tickets. Gustav Ejstes’s band also gets right psychedelic and pastorally stoner-friendly, albeit in a more pulsing and guitar heroic way, so the bill didn’t come without a certain stylistic mesh. And at least at their final show together, at Minneapolis’s storied First Ave., the bands manifested that mesh onstage, Fleet Foxes joining Dungen for a song of theirs and Gustav returning the favor with flute on “Your Protector.” Those moments are captured here by Stacy Schwartz — the sound clips, but at least it memorializes the moment:

Thanks for the tip, Julie. Fleet Foxes are working on a new album, more on that soon.

wow stereogum, this post’s title sounds a bit tongue-in-cheek and homoerotic in nature if you ask me, especially once you start talking about the flute in the entry. did pecknold sidestep the site to premiere a new track or something to deserve such a passive aggressive diss?

  2. Peckerhold is blowin’ up (in the cheeks) on that UNCUT cover. I do say -

  5. I love both of these bands. Too bad the sound-quality on these videos are not up to par.

  6. @SubSickAlien Yeah, I need to get a better video cam, that’s for sure. Plus, since I was shooting photos for the local alt-weekly I was next to the extremely large speakers… so that didn’t help out in the sound department. Also, my boy Carl Atiya Swanson shot these vids with my shitty point & shoot camera. I was busy with the still pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnconcertphotos/sets/72157621872291491/

    Thanks SG! xo
