Dutch DJ Tiësto’s fourth studio album Kaleidoscope comes with a variety of collaborative vocal guests spots including Jónsi of Sigur Rós, Kele of Bloc Party, Nelly Furtado, Calvin Harris, Emily Haines, and Tegan & Sara. He explains the logjam:

The starting point was to work with different artists that I liked. It was as simple as that. Sigur Rós make beautiful music. Bloc Party are fantastic and exciting and innovative. But the hardest thing initially was to get those kind of people to collaborate. They don’t work with dance artists as a rule, and especially not a dance DJ, but when we started producing these tracks, I was surprised at how well the styles work together.

The first collaboration took place a year ago or so with T&S. If you recall, he remixed their “Back In Your Head.” This time time they feel someone deep in their bones. As far as the he said/she said, he gave them a track, they wrote lyrics and vocal lines for it, he finished it up in his Holland studio. The artists are pretty stoked about the results. As Sara puts it:

Tegan and I would happily disband if Tiësto let us tour the world with him. I’d take dance lessons and would be open to discussions about wearing “outfits” on stage. We’re proud of the collaboration and can’t wait for people to hear the song!

Per her request, take a listen to “Feel It In My Bones.”

The man himself.

This is after the fact, ok, but here’s T&S announcing this debut from an undisclosed shower stall:

  1. another thing…. i am 27…. not 14! and you GUYS need to stop getting your boxers/briefs in a freaking bundle about the amount of comments, etc. sheesh. fo’real! GET OVER IT.

  2. Hmmmmm...  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

    This song dance/electro? I don’t think so…..

Some of you need to go and listen to more dance/electro/trance. I’m a huge fan of Tiesto and Tiesto is a TRANCE DJ!!!! I have pretty broad music tastes and have only recently become familiar with Tegan & Sara and yeah, they’re OK – nothing too special… I’d way prefer to sit back and listen to Aussie grassroots/folk singer/songwriter/musician, Missy Higgins, or someone with equally as much talent.

This song is soooooo far from what Tiesto does so I’m really not a fan. Actually, i’m incredibly disappointed. I think this song is rubbish. Good work Tegan and Sara – I’m sure this collaboration with Tiesto has been a huge step in your music career as this song will help your name branch out to a whole new fan base in the “dance” (lol if that’s what you’d like to call it) world…

Unfortunately, this song does absolutely nothing for me.

  3. Well I’m just going to take my Tegan & Sara loving, Sleater-Kinney tattoo having, Queens of the Stone Age blasting, Diana Krall discography owning self to bed, i mean how do I live with myself??? haha later, and Junior sorry about the mix-up!

    • I love you c:

    • Oh holy yes! Is this the 3EB for 2009 at SG? Finally!

You TnS fanboys (I guess fangirls is the more accurate, though uncoined phrase) have no idea what you’ve done to your favorite band. Although, it wouldn’t surprise me to find out that TnS fans *also* have 3EB lyrics tattooed down their arms.

      • TroutFishingUSA: I just need you to clarify that, I’m assuming 3EB is Third Eye Blind, wtf how did they come up, what do they have to do with this??? I can’t defend myself yet cause I’m not sure what your comment means or exactly how offensive it really is.

Fanboy? I’m not a boy and what do you mean “what i did to my favorite band”? I don’t recall saying TnS is are favorite band, anyway all I did was respond things that were being said about them that were untrue. You should also do that with your favorite band, or anything one and anything that you see being slandered.

      • gosh excuse my typos and all around bad grammar! Just woke up, I apologize.

    OMFGSH.
    this song is amazing.
i’m supposed to be writing an essay right now, but the songs amazingness has distracted me..
    skq is amazing.
and wow tegan and sara are gay.
    suck it.
it’s irrelevent in terms of their music.
    which is amazing…
    ILOVETHISSONG.
Tiesto needs to put it on his myspace so it can be my profile song :)

  5. Love it. Yap another girl comment.
In my country tiesto is very appreciated so when this song hit the radios everyone will like it.
Love tegan and sara and tiesto iis a very good dj with some good taste.
And now I’m waiting for what people would say about nelly furtado collaboration . It’s more poppy than tegan and sara.

  6. Ah I’m excited to hear the track with Emily Haines now!

  7. Today I stopped listening to T&S forever. SELLOUTS

    • If you like their music, you like their music. Why would you give up listening to something you enjoy just because they collaborated with one crappy DJ. Don’t be so precious. You may not like this song of course, but that doesn’t mean you won’t love Sainthood.

    • cause of a song they did for someone else???? alright obviously that’s your call but I do hope you understand this is just a song they wrote WITH Tiesto FOR Tiesto’s record.

And btw this is for everyone: guys this song is NOT for/on Sainthood, they said in that video this is a song they wrote with Tiesto for Kaleidoscope a year ago! It’s not their song and its not for any of their records.

  8. strange&likeable  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

I don’t normally like music in the genre of Tiesto’s. But I love love love Tegan and Sara (great song-writers, awesome live shows etc etc). So, I was intrigued to hear this collaboration.

I quite like it. Sara’s voice sounds fantastic and I like the parts when they’re both singing.
Definitely something I?ll enjoy listening to now and then when I?m in the mood for something a bit more ?doof doof? than my usual music. I might be tempted to check out the rest of the new Tiesto album when it comes out too. The other collaborations on the album also look really interesting!

So thanks Tegan and Sara and Tiesto for adding a bit of variety to my music player :-)

  9. realfan  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

Jesus Christ. This is where Tiesto going is realy fucking bad. I mean OMG WHY? Don’t do it man. U kill your fans. They are all crying. WTF is this? Pop music by teh god of trance…i know we can say trance is dead and changing styles to house is what everyone is doing cuz it is money. But pop artists? Why are they useful? Unlistenable crap. Make proper house music then or something but not this pop music pls. Too big changes. No one of your fans can listen this trust me. This is such a falling compared to your old stuff. :( I am really disappoointed. Will you play these shits in your sets? Ppl will go home…Oh well i dont understand at all. Have fun making music with this pop artists then. But dont forget tokio hotel and britney pls!. Thanks

  10. THIS IS NOT FUCKING TRANCE MUSIC PPL! Understand that tiesto quit trance and not making more trance music. This is just fail fail fail. AWFUL CRAP :’(

  11. Tess  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

holy shit “Feel it in my bones” is so great!
just to hear TEGAN AND SARA again is so exciting, makes me want “sainthood” even more!! :) :D
and by the way,. the reason tegan and sara have so many comments is because they are amazing and soooo talented!! :D :D

  12. Kristin  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

I love this and think it’s defintely different for Tegan and Sara, but I think that’s what is cool abou them. They are willing to grow and experiment with different sounds, but still stay funny as hell.

  13. Manuel  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

“feel it in my bones” is usually not my kind of music .. but i like it :-) .

    i want “sainthood”!

    male “fangirl”

  14. LivingInPink  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

    On repeat! I love it!

  15. marianna  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

    <3

  16. icore  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

The music is good, but the vocal… :(

  17. Shandawg9  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

hmm. I’m not hating on electronica, but Tiesto’s music, to my ears, has a certain blandness to it. That said, if there have to be bland beats in this world, it’s nice to have vocals from artists I enjoy hearing. And if this song gets a few electro/dance/trance (whatever you wanna call it) fans curious enough to check out more of Tegan and Sara’s music, then it’s all to the good, as far as I’m concerned.

  18. Heather   |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

TnS are amazing!! They arent sellouts. Now if the entire sainthood album sounded like this, yes i would call them sell outs, maybe. I probably wouldnt even do that i would just stop listening to them. They were asked by tiesto himself to put lyrics to this track. Obviously the guy knows what he’s doing. I wish the best of luck to Tiesto and of course to TnS. They’re amazing and have gotten to where they are today because they are indeed talented musicians. They write all their own material and play it all. They dont just have a computer w/a bunch of pre-recorded sounds that they copy and paste together to make a song. If you want to point the finger at the music industry w/ the least amount of talent that’s polluting the airwaves and destroying our youth, then blame rap!! That is the one genre of music that needs to die.

  19. this is not a tegan and sara’s song. it is tiesto’s. i hate it. it is not trance.

  20. skittl3s17  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

omg. i love this song. Tegan and Sara are my Favorite band. and Tiesto is my favorite DJ.

this is literally like a dream come true.

I got started on Tegan and Sara Through Tiesto.

It is a great sequel to “Back in Your Head”

    Cant wait for Sainthood!!!! XD

  21. tash  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

I love this song, it just shows that they have such range of talents that they could pull off an amazing full on dance song, and then go and play some delicate acoustic folk ballad, then a pop song, then a rock song, it just shows so much depth. Going back to the moronic argument up there, I am a male, 19 and Tegan and Sara do self promote all the time on their website and I do listen to other kinds of music

  22. Hilarious. Some people here take themselves a little bit too seriously. Liked the song. Liked Sara’s vocals. It got better the more times I listened to it.

  23. brayns  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

Of the 176 comments so far, about 150 seem to be from rabid teenage Tegan and Sara fans who have never been to Stereogum before, and are now choking it with their childish, screechy comments.

Save it for the fanclubs, kids. Tegan and Sara themselves would probably be mortified that you are representing their fanbase by coming on here and behaving like screaming preteen idiots.

  24. I listened to this like 654 times already, and I love it. It makes me even more excited to hear Sainthood, even tho this song wont be on it. =/ but I definitely needed some new T&S to hold me over until then.

  25. hater  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

Why does the music that defines our generation suck? Oh, I know, because hipsters suck! The world will not be a “cool” place until every hipster DIES! You hipsters have murdered “cool” and turned in into “cute guy, mustache, pbr, tight pants, good will shopping/100 dollar hair cut, fu*k, I could go on for days”

This generation of “cool” needs to END!

  26. Andrew  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

JEEEEEEEZ! Did the T&S fanclub bus roll in today? Songs alright but I always hate the sound of T&S’s vocals in recordings. I’m still not a fan but I always thought they sounded better live.

  27. who cares  |   Posted on Aug 19th, 2009

If you don’t like Tegan and Sara, why bother coming on here? Have you nothing better to do?

  28. Radness  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

Tegan and Sara are amazing. Tiesto is pretty boss all on his own, the Back in Your Head Tiesto remix was musical vicodin and this new track is like a ton of opiates and a stellar backrub all combined into a perfect 5 minute song. Love me some T&S, Quin twins are killing it son!

  29. Carmen  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

This song sucks!!!! What the hell was Tiesto thinking? He’s sooo much more talented than these two! He’s on a different level. I clicked on the link thinking I would hear more amazing Tiesto and all I heard was some dumb, boring, candy girls trying to sing something interesting.

  30. Karl  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

This song could be so much better without Tiesto.

  31. I hear Tegan is in a relationship with Tiesto atm. True?

  32. anonymous  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

I am shocked by this combination, but I can’t admit that the song is really nice. I hope Tiesto’s new album to be more trance oriented than pop for the sake of his old fans.

  33. sabirna  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

oh god, i love this song!! wicked awesome:)

  34. I saw Tiesto at Coachella couple of years back. I’m not a big fan of trance so I kind of had to suffer through it while watching my sister go crazy. I have to say I like this song because i’m a t&s fan. but as someone who had to sit through a whole Tiesto set, I have to say that this isn’t very Tiesto at all. maybe it’s because I actually like it. i’m not trying to knock the trance movement.

  35. This is further proof that Tegan and Sara could do anything (this techno-ey sound or heavy metal for that matter) and I’d be completely in love with it!
I can’t stop listening to it and dancing!!! :)

  36. Why are these girls gay?

  37. Katebean88  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

I think it is a great song.

  38. thetruthis  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

they’re gay because they aren’t stupid enough to be attracted to a male

  39. jackie  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

I luv it! This is totally what I needed to hold me down until Tegan and Sara new album! thanx!
Totally luv it! Totally luv it! Totally luv it! Totally luv it! Totally luv it! Totally luv it! Totally luv it!

  40. teganandsarasbiggestfan  |   Posted on Aug 20th, 2009

I REALLY DIDINT MEAN THAT I WAS TRYING TO REPLY TO THE PERSON WHO CALLD TEGAN AND SARA LESBIAN SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO S OS SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO S OS OS SO SO SO SOS SO SO SO SO S O SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SORRY……….SOB SOB.

  41. I enjoyed this song. I’m not really fond of either artists work, but them together is ok (although I do like T&S a tad more).

  42. your mum  |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

good song ruined by annoying techno beats, fuck off tiesto

  43. Rom642  |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

Hey “Ur Mum”, your a fucken idiot! He’s a electornic dance music producer with trance dj roots. Not techno… thats how much you know about this. Love the track Tiesto did it again. Would love to see T & S tour with Tiesto again like they did for a few shows last year. Tiesto has played for a crowd of over 270,000 peeps in Brazil. Tiesto is not a man, but an experience!

  44. ahhaaaahaha, i recomend playing the song with the vimeo clip(vimeo clip at at voloume level so you can just hear it)!! PS cant stop listening to this song

  45. Karl  |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

“Tegan and I would happily disband if Tiësto let us tour the world with him. I’d take dance lessons and would be open to discussions about wearing “outfits” on stage.”

    hahaha, that sounds delightful.

  46. brian  |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

    this is so fucking great

  47. sarategan  |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

i’m speechless! in the good way, tegan and sara have been my favorite thing in the world since I was 5 and now I’m almost 12 and they still hold my heart! not a big fan of tiesto but hes ok. :D

  48. Craig Battersby  |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

OK, first, i really like this song and looking forward to the new Tiesto album.
Yes the song is not trance, far from it, but then why does it have to be? Tiesto has been in the business and a success long enough to do what he wants to do, and having listening to all his albums have to say that he moved away from making trance a long time ago, but that doesn’t mean they’re not good songs. He is a trance DJ who plays trance music in his sets, but that doesn’t mean he has to stick to producing trance music, they’re two different sides of his career.
Just listen to the song and enjoy!

  49. lucy   |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

I LOVE it !! seriously is AWSOME !!!!! XD

  50. Great, original, love the lyrics, the rhythm, Sara’s voice match with the sound.
    Just A-W-E-S-O-M-E !!!

  51. Black  |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

    Me likes lots :)

  52. pleasant  |   Posted on Aug 21st, 2009

This song literally rocked my world. Tegan and Sara never seem to disappoint and this doesn’t either. I can’t wait for Sainthood.

  53. First time to hear them. It’s damn good. Very evocative … puts me in touch with old feelings and makes them feel new…good stuff

  54. I didn’t know what to expect when I heard that Tegan and Sara were collaborating with Tiesto. I love Tegan and Sara, but I was still a little skeptical that the genres would work well together. Then I heard the track and i was floored. It’s awesome! I love the lyrics and vocal line by Tegan and Sara and Tiesto’s music/beats are great. They mesh so well and I never thought I’d say this, but I hope to hear more T&S Euro dance songs in the future!

  55. OH MY GOODNESS. PERFECTION.

  56. teganandsarafan  |   Posted on Aug 23rd, 2009

its been days and this song is still on repeat. i will never get sick of it. amaaaaazing,

I like this song… it’s different but I don’t hate it… I’ve never heard of Tiesto but this is kinda exciting… I LOVE Tegan and Sara and I LOVE Bloc Party so if he collabs with awesome artists and bands then I guess he’s worth checkin into …

  59. Barry Dingle  |   Posted on Aug 24th, 2009

what. the. fook. is. with. this. shit. PR firm?

  60. otter  |   Posted on Aug 24th, 2009

After the collaboration between David Guetta and Black Eyed Peas, it’s certainly the most outstanding track of the year! OMG

  61. I love Tegan and Sara, don’t love this song.

  62. I love Tegan and Sara already. I basically love them more now. This was a great collaboration despite the terrible Back In Your Head remix by Tiesto.

  63. this is honestly my new favorite song!

  64. Tranceroute  |   Posted on Aug 25th, 2009

As a great electronic/trance music fan that i am, i have to say this is sad, electronic music has lost all the tiesto’s old style with tracks that made him famous like traffi, dance 4 life and the masterpiece adagio for strings. He made such beautiful trance tracks and he became the # 1 Dj for 3 years. But now he is getting off EDM, we the trance fans dont see very good this of tiesto. Well at least i dont like him now, but yeah i have to admit that a few of his new song are a bit good like i will be here etc

  65. Don Cheadle  |   Posted on Aug 25th, 2009

I have to say, Tiesto is pretty boring, and his remix of Back in Your Head was. . . Uninspired. But I think Tegn and Sara make this song definitely a repeatable track.

  66. Jack  |   Posted on Aug 25th, 2009

I am absolutely in love with anything Tegan and especially Sara create! This track is amazingly catchy and their voice sound, for lack of a better word…sexy! I am THRILLED for Sainthood. In a recent interview with Tegan she said Sara wrote a majority of the songs which is so exciting!!! These pop goddesses will never disappoint!

  67. L GEE  |   Posted on Aug 25th, 2009

SICK SONG!!!! CANT WAIT FOR SAINTHOOD BABY. GONNA TOP ALL THE CHARTS FO SHO!

  68. i love this song

  69. Listen  |   Posted on Aug 25th, 2009

So this is a pretty good colaboration that Sara did called “Your Name” http://www.myspace.com/vivekshraya

  70. “Tiesto is a joke these chicks should hook up with an electro deejay” ? “Bad techno”? FYI Tiesto is a trance DJ, trance is a sub-genre of electronic music, so you don’t even know what you’re talking about. Right now tiesto stands as one of the best Dj across all electronic sub-genres. So next time do some research before posting…

  71. Will Dan Bejar release a response track now that Destroyer is jumping genres to the balearic disco market?

  72. very nice. good to see these kids still rockin

  73. Lesh  |   Posted on Aug 27th, 2009

I found myself humming this song the whole day and then breaking it down in the awkward public places. hmmm I think tegan and sara should come to South Africa… its discrimination ..

  74. brian  |   Posted on Aug 27th, 2009

i think this song is better than the pitchfork top blah blah

  75. This song is so good.

  76. Pete  |   Posted on Sep 8th, 2009

I love this song. I just checked iTunes and it is available for download

  77. Talia  |   Posted on Sep 10th, 2009

I would just like to remind some people here that just because YOU think they’re boring and only have one decent album and only made it because of their looks and sexuality… well that doesn’t exactly mean it IS so, you know? Talk about being anything but objective. Djeez.

And whoever said they aren’t famous, come to Europe. I think you’d see a very vast amount of people who know OF them. I’m not a big fan per sé, before you attack me as well as being biased. I’m not, I’m just pointing out that your opinions aren’t actual facts, as you all like tho think they are.

  78. I like this song. It’s very catchy. I like the dreamy voices. I like Tegan and Sara. They don’t disapoint me. Can’t wait for the new cd. Love them live. Love their banter and stories.

  79. MArwan  |   Posted on Oct 5th, 2009

Honestly guys, i never heard tegan and sara before but after the tiesto song i started looking into their songs and now i respect them for sure.
