“Lonely Boy,” the first single from the new Black Keys album El Camino, is a fired-up rager with a surf-inflected central riff and a jumpy, restless organ. It’s a seriously catchy, energetic song, and it’s sounding pretty goddam great on first listen. Last night, the band posted a stream of the song on their YouTube page, along with a video of some guy dancing frantically to the track while lip-syncing and managing to keep a studiously blank expression the entire time. Watch it and listen to the song below.
The “Lonely Boy” 7″ single is out in independent record stores on 11/25, Black Friday. El Camino is out 12/6 on Nonesuch.

Thom Yorke and his spaghetti-legged dance moves are at it again!
This guy dances the way I imagine I look when I dance.
What’s that ghost in the office at the 30 second mark?

sounds like someone isn’t a black keys fan
I don’t think it is a stretch to say all their songs more or less are pretty damn similar. They are good at what they do but I can’t get too excited over a new album from them.
who needs rock n roll when we have chillwave?
that makes one of us, BITCH!
(sorry I can’t shake the Breaking Bad from myself nowadays)
Dude, the Black Keys is, like, the best Band EVER, yo!
yea, me neither.
glad i’m not the only one who does the breaking bad “BITCH” thing. its awkward when the other person doesn’t watch.
No it isn’t a stretch at all. I guess I was just thinking about how whenever they have a new album or one on the way the “they all sound alike” conversation takes place again. It just makes them one of those bands where one is either into their thing or not into it. I happen to like them a lot but don’t expect them to have a “kid A” moment or whatever.
Really this song sounds pretty different from their past songs.
Then uhh…..don’t bother to listen to any new Black Keys songs?
I think Odenkirk stopped by the Tim and Eric offices and borrowed one of their “actors” for a few hours
Best news all week! I hope that guy is on stage with them when they hit the late night circuit
Sounds like the Black Keys… I like that a lot.
If this were a field goal attempt: IT’SSS GOOOD!
Anyone else hearing some rockabilly in this? really enjoying it
There are very few bands that sound this good post selling out!
Been waiting for this all week.

This is one of those songs that really sounds better when its played very loud.
This is good.
Wow, Herman Cain is really getting creative with his campaign.
my best friend’s aunt makes $70/hr on the laptop. She has been out of work for 6 months but last month her check was $8183 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read this site NuttyRich.cöm
No.
your aunt is only making $70 an hour because she’s peddling her dong on Craigslist
This might be one of the first things I’ve heard in a while that just immediately grabbed me as awesome when I first listened. It’s just so good.
Such a great band! Thanks for the blog!
Excellent! The Black Keys fail to disappoint again. This is a lively and obviously danceable track and they keep the rhythm safely out of a sloppy backslides , even towards the end of the song. This is a song that I can probably never tire of listening to as is what happens with a lot of the churned out indie music band songs. Often I can only do one listen , not absolutely despise it, but have no desire to hear it again.
CMJ had quite a few good new artists that I’d like to hear more from . I am wow’ed by this song, but I can do without the crazy man dancing video!
BHIMB
of course their songs all sort of sound similar. just like any other good band, ever. that’s because they are made by the same band. i just never really understand when someone says “sounds all the same to me”….. of course when i hear a black keys song i can identify it as such, but they certainly do not all sound like the same song to me either. sorry/carry on now.
Listen to El Camino! http://akrygiel.wordpress.com/2011/10/26/black-keys-new-single-lonely-boy/
I am so excited for this album. This song rocks and I think the video is fantastic.
