  1. Pet Sounds baby!

  2. Pet Sounds bandwagon.

  3. I’m gonna throw a curveball here and say “Summer Crush: Songs We Love to Love.” Yes, it’s a greatest hits record, but it’s also the first Beach Boys “album” I’ve ever heard. I remember listening to this in the car when I was, like, 9 and asking my mom to replay stuff like “I Can Hear Music,” “Sail on Sailor,” “Friends.” Those harmonies, man… crazy. And when I first heard “Surf’s Up?” Fuck. It’s that sort of incredible song/music-writing that made me want to go into music. The whole song’s a masterpiece that should be considered “Ode to Joy”-level music.

  4. one more for Surf’s Up

  5. Pet Sounds.
    The greatest!!

  6. Yeah, Pet Sounds. But I they have so many records and comps that I haven’t even heard all of them. But I love Pet Sounds, my favorite song being “That’s Not Me” because I can really relate to it in my current stage in life. This album showed me that The Beach Boys were more than just fun radio friendly surf pop and a real creative and artistic force.

  7. All Summer Long. Too damn catchy (I Get Around!).

  8. SUNFLOWER ..so good! The song “It’s About Time” is amazing. Occupy Hawthorne!

  9. SUNFLOWER so good! The song “It’s About Time” is amazing. Occupy Hawthorne!

  10. Pet Sounds. there’s really no other choice.

  11. Always will be Pet Sounds for me.

  12. Friends – lovely and underrated work.

  13. Smiley Smile by a smiley mile.

  14. Pet Sounds, with Surf’s Up coming in 2nd

  15. Pet Sounds…no doy.

  16. Ah-HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…MIKE LOVE! Stop it, You’re killing me!

  17. Stereogum – You’re usually pretty good at identifying “shills” on this site, but when are you going to stop shilling for Facebook with these competitions? As much as I would LOVE to win this, just as I would have LOVED to have won Nevermind Deluxe – I abstain from these competitions on principal. I do in fact, after many years of abstence, now have a Facebook profile, mainly because without it, it is impossible to see details of events that friends and associates post exclusively on there – but for me to have to ‘Like’ you on Facebook, or follow you or whatever, its just promoting Facebook, which lets face it (no pun inteded) is probably going to turn out to be one of the worst things to ever happen to the internet…who knows, it might even BECOME the internet, in the sense that for most people Google is the internet for all intents and purposes.

  18. Pet Sounds (yes again), but oddly enough I’ve found myself listening to Smiley Smile more. One of the strangest albums I’ve ever heard from a major group. If you’re in the ‘proper’ mindset, you could also easily make a case for Friends as the calm in the middle of a storm, even if most of it doesn’t sound a thing like rock ‘n’ roll.

  19. Nothing can beat Pet Sounds.

  20. Pet Sounds. For now. Smile is definitely growing on me.

  21. Pet Sounds is my jam homey…..but seriously, that album is perfect from start to finish.

  22. The Beach Boy’s Love You! Gotta love those Moogs!

  23. My ancient compilation of Smile bootlegs would have to be my fave!

  24. le Pet Sounds!

  25. Surf’s Up come ahnn

  26. Pet Sounds with Today following in a close second.

  27. Either Surf’s Up Or Smiley Smile. It’s almost impossible for me to choose.

  28. Pet Sounds is a classic now and forever.

  29. I got a bootleg of Smile years ago and that quickly became my favorite Beach Boys album. Excited for this official version!

  30. It’s actually “Smile”. Listening to it for the third time today right now.

  31. Pet sounds… I love every song on there

  32. SMILE is absolutely my favorite. I’ve had a few different mixes (Vigotone, Purple Chick) over the last 10 years. It’s become this weird thing of friends making their own mixes with various versions. It therefore always makes it unique and interesting. I’m DYING to see the “final version” that is on the SMILE box set…DYING for it!

  33. Pet Sounds is not just their best album, it is the best album.

  34. Pet Sounds, with lots of close second places.

  35. Someone say Pet Sounds?

  36. Who can afford to buy all these giant box sets?
