The video for the Soft Moon’s excellent “Total Decay” pins Luis Vasquez’s minimalist visual aesthetic to his spectral, Factory-styled post-punk clamor. It’s clenched up with claustrophobic tension and yet echoes with space and chilly breath, which is a neat trick. The video is black and white and rippling with ghoulish traces of faces and other such business, and as such it should be projected on a loop at your goth-inspired Halloween party this weekend. I absolutely love Soft Moon. In my opinion, he’s on the top-3 Bay Area artists currently.
