Dirty Projectors On “Hyperballad”
“I think what I took from Björk when I was obsessed with her in high school was her way with deconstruction. She writes these classic melodies but breaks them apart so that it’s sort of up to you as the listener to put them back together. The song ends up meaning so much more because of the effort you have to give to it. Out of a perverse habit, I tried to do the opposite with this recording: present the song like the unbroken stone it might have been. But I think I probably just arrived at a new deconstruction: Björk’s essence remains elusive!”

Good work! I quite like this cover. Having said that, I think this one is far better (and probably the greatest Bjork cover of all time):-

couldn’t pass the 1st minute. oh. my. god.
horrible.
YOU SUCK
Is this a country version or something? Boy, you must really hate Bjork… and if she ever listens to this, the feeling will be mutual.
Bjork’s played with these guys before and loves them, so that’s pretty unlikely dude
It isn’t horrible. Some people just don’t like to think that music travels past any kind of boundaries. If you did….you would realize their talent is great.
YOU SUCK
OMG?! what is this?! hyperballad is one of my favourite songs and you’ve completely missed the point of it. What you’ve done with it is certainly interesting and your cover sounds ok alone, but if you know the song, this version is just soulless. Are you trying to be ironic or something???
what version is this?
Though it is a highly creative and interesting approach to the song, I don’t think there is any justifiable reason to ever cover a song like Hyperballad, especially without the outro strings. Still worth a listen!
As much as I like Dave’s voice, my favorite version of this is still the Flute Mix on the Remixes album. I personally think that this one is a great addition to the Bjork cover spectrum.
