  1. I got that e-mail too. I’m curious as to why they chose the Gordon Gano track as opposed to any of the other amazing acts on there — tv on the radio, death cab, beck, mercury rev, tom waits. Instead we get the guy from the Violent Femmes. Interesting, no?

Anyone heard the rest of the album?

  2. A great cover of “Walking The Cow” was done by The Reivers — who were recording at the time as Zeitgeist — on their Translate Slowly disc. Look it up, if you can — Kim Longacre’s vocals are simply beautiful. Pearl Jam, of all bands, has covered it in concert, too.

A friend, who is currently blaming this album for the delay in releasing a new Sparklehorse, said what he heard was pretty good.

    Two things:

    1) I love Clem Snyde.

    2) I remember, a while back, you mentioning the Mandy Moore/Michael Stipe song from “Saved”– is it out there in downloadable format? Love it.

Except I can’t SPELL “clem snide”. oops.

    I love the unknown…

  7. I have not yet found Mandy & Mike’s surprisingly awesome “God Only Knows” — but if someone finds it … please send my way!

  8. i love gordon gano.

  9. i think nick zinner plays guitar on the bright eyes track

I have a live version of that beck track from long ago and it is amazing.

  11. I was gonna say ‘Shit, Daniel Johnston died?’ but I guess this is just a clever title for an album.

  12. Yeah… I sorta know the guy who runs Gammon and he’s really cool. A label worth supporting!

But this is not a cool name for the record. D.J. has serious mental problems and is a perpetual suicide risk. Not a good name for the album… i spent a few minutes today trying to get info on DJ’s death until I figured out it was apparently a joke.

  13. That’s the first time I’ve ever heard Daniel Johnston. Have to say I liked the original better than Gano’s cover and I listened to the cover first. Anyway, might be a record worth checking out.

  14. 9/21 is my birthday
