Probably The Stranger for me. Glass Houses and An Innocent Man are also great, but The Stranger is just non-stop awesome from start to finish. Well, almost to finish. I usually pretend that last cut isn’t on there.
‘Everybody Has A Dream’ is not the right song to finish the album? C’mon!
The Stranger. Doesn’t get any better.
storm front
The Stranger
The Stranger.
The Stranger
An Innocent Man!!!
Glass Houses.
52nd Street – Side One is such a jazzy masterpiece.
The Stranger
The Stranger.
Either the Stranger or Glass Houses…
The Stranger. Strangely, everyone else thinks so too. ;n)
The Stranger, but An Innocent Man is a close second. 52nd Street is also pretty great.
The Stranger.
The Stranger, for sure. Billy Joel has been my favorite my entire life.
The Stranger. It’s just too iconic not to pick it. :)
The Stranger. A great variety of songs. All amazing.
The Stranger
I’ll go with Storm Front since 8 year old me discovered Billy via We Didn’t Start The Fire
Turnstiles
The Stranger, hands down.
Attila, of course.
Hahaha, actually it’s a great album! I really don’t know why people bad-mouth it so much. Think of all the effort that was put in with all of those organ solos with having to play a bass line with another keyboard. Billy Joel is amazing.
Streetlife Serenade (sentimental childhood favorite).
The Stranger, without a doubt. It all comes back to “Only the Good Die Young” for me.
an innocent man.
Glass Houses.
Oh, The Stranger, for sure. <3
Storm Front
The Stranger
River of Dreams
Definitely “Turnstiles”. 8 tracks, great listen from start to finish. The highlight for me off that album would be “Summer, Highland Falls”.
The Stranger. Beginning to end – classic. That’s some legendary stuff.
Grew up in Vienna so it’s gotta’ be The Stranger.
Defiantly Cold Spring Harbor. There’s not a bad song on it and it has my favourite song, Tomorrow is Today, his suicide note. Thank god that his attempt failed.
The Stranger
Glass Houses, the peak of pop-era Billy Joel.
Glass Houses for me!
Turnstiles, the first album I owned.
Turnstiles, definitely.
My favorite is Turnstiles also. A lot of people saying Turnstiles.
My favorite is River of Dreams. It’s an album that is a bit spiritual and I like that about it.
Gotta go with Turnstiles as well! Miami 2017, Summer, Highland Falls, and Prelude/Angry Young Man are some of my favorite songs. Miami 2017 for its great story telling. Summer, Highland Falls for its beautiful metaphors. Prelude/Angry Young Man for its awesome piano beginning. Doesn’t get much better than Turnstiles!
Songs in the Attic is a great live collection of his earlier songs.
My favorite album would have to be An Innocent Man… not to mention my favorite song “Uptown Girl”!
Turnstiles album…..but a hard decision to make because all of his albums are phenomenal. Turnstiles was one of Billy Joels most creative albums. although one of the more unknown, it has fantastic hits that continue to mind blow me to this day.
Turnstiles it’s one of his greatest albums of all time. Not one bad song on it
Probably the Stranger or 52nd Street, but at this very moment… The Stranger!
52nd Street. Musically the best. Rosalinda’s Eyes…..
Songs in the attic. Great little sampling of tracks from older albums in one place
I love Storm Front! “I go to Extremes” is my life’s theme song.
Songs In The Attic
The Stranger is by far my favorite album by Billy Joel. If this album didn’t exist, I wouldn’t have taken piano lessons. I told my father when I was five years old that I needed to learn how to play “Scenes from an Italian Restaraunt”. Here I am, 15 years later and I have been teaching piano lessons and pursuing a music education degree. He is my biggest inspiration and this album is outstanding.
Well, seeing as the title track is one of my favorite songs, I’ll have to go with River of Dreams. :)
River of Dreams, I remember my parents playing that album a lot when I was a kid, brings back memories.
GLASS HOUSES! When I was little I would pop in my grandma’s 8-track tape and sing and dance my troubles away!
Glass House, although all of them are fantastic!
Toss up between Stranger and Storm Front.
So many albums to choose from….But, if I was to pick out a favorite Billy Joel album, it would be “52nd Street”…. I had a chance to buy a CD of “52nd Street” and listen to it track by track and it is one really good album…. I would recommend for those who as not listen to “52nd Street” track by track, I say do so, you will get one heck of a musical story, like Elton John’s “Tumbleweed Connection”,,,,,
THEY ARE ALL GREAT, BUT STRANGER TOPS THEM ALL!
I don’t care what anybody says. I’m picking River of Dreams. I love Shades of Gray so much. Billy Joel was one of the first rock songwriters I ever liked, and even now that I mostly listen to indie rock I still think he’s great. People are always like, “Elton John this” and “Elton John that,” but Billy Joel can write just about any kind of song and he has way more rock songs that Elton so whatever, dude.
Have to go with “An Innocent Man”, though on any given day it could be “The Bridge”, “River of Dreams”, “Glass Houses”, or “The Stranger”. Some nearly flawless albums!
In all honesty this is hard, but “Turnstiles” is my favorite.
The Stranger, no, wait, Turnstiles, wait again, Cold Spring Harbor. All of the above!
the stranger is my fave..i can listen to it over and over
Stormfront. Downeaster Alexa is the greatest song!
The stranger
My favorite is Greatest Hits Volumes 1 & 2
The Stranger, ftw.
Turnstiles. I love the song Miami 2017, it tells a really fascinating story.
The Stranger
The Stranger
Tough choice to pick one album but I have to go with 52nd Street as the best total album with Turnstiles and Innocent Man right behind.
Billy Joel is just an Awesome Artist any way you look at it, Great diversity, Great Voice, Great Piano skills!!!!
The first thing that popped into my Head was Piano Man and then from his Album “The Stranger” Only the good die young… Glass Houses, The Attic and so many More, But I will Never forget “The Piano Man”, It takes me back to 10 years of age and all the great music to follow plus a little to catch up on but not much, and the show a few weeks ago with Him and Elton John together, the gorgeous pianos was pure musical genius (as always!!!) . Billy….You make it hard to pick cause you have been around through 8 track, cassette, Albums, cd’s, dvd’s, Your music has influenced most of my life including 7 years of band in middle and High school….The only Artist I really enjoyed before you died in 1971 and that was Jim Croce in a plane crash and I also still listen to his old music, timeless pieces such as Time In A Bottle, Operator, and last but not least the one almost everyone still knows…Bad Bad Leroy Brown, I would have loved a duo there ( though I am not sure how it would have been, but believe You could have pulled it off somehow….I Just want You to know Your music has given me many hours of pleasure in the last 40 years and If I had to pick just 1….it would have to be Piano Man…not just the Album but the Song also!!! Keep up the Fantastic work, who knows…maybe one Day I will have the HONOR of meeting you at a concert ( if You make it to Athens Georgia, which has a nice music venue and a lot of really good artist from around the area have made it big) I Will do my best to have a front row seat in the orchestra section of “The Classic Center” and maybe wishful thinking but a backstage pass also and Your Autograph!!!! Hope to see You in the future!!! Love your #1 fan for many years!!!!!
“Glass Houses”.
I live for “All For Leyna”
The Stranger
cold spring harbor. great art.
The Stranger
I would say that my favorite Billy Joel album is 52nd Street. I can remember the first time I heard it with Big Shot, Honesty, and My Life kicking it off. I was a Billy fan for life then.
The Stranger… Gotta say it.
The Stranger
Songs in the Attic. Fantastic.
Turnstiles or The Stranger my favorite albums. But Nylon Curtain was first real concert I ever went to! Billy Joel my favorite artist of all time!
Definitely Songs in the Attic.
The Nylon Curtain, definitely.
Street Life Serenade
The Stranger … what a masterpiece ;)
Hard to choose, but I go with 52nd Street. Unitl the Night, Stiletto, Big Shot….
Nylon Curtain is the best with songs like Allentown, Pressure, and the fantastic Goodnight Saigon!
Impossible to choose my favorite Billy Joel album. But, I would probably say Nylon Curtain. But, the album that will always harken me back to a particular time in my life is An Innocent Man.
Probably Storm Front, although there are so many great ones…it’s really hard to choose a favorite.
I can’t decide between The Stranger and 52nd Street. I have so many favorite songs from each of them.
The Stranger – classic
The Stranger! Where is my mp3 player?
If you can just skip C’était Toi, Glass Houses is a goddamn masterpiece.
I love Innocent Man too
It’s terribly hard to choose, but I’m going with Storm Front. My mother played the cassette in her car ALL the time when it was released. I was about seven years old, and it was my first introduction to Billy Joel.
The Stranger
You are The Best of The Best! My favorite album is 52nd Street.
Tie between The Stranger and River of Dreams for me… though I could listen to them all on repeat anyday! :)
