Morrissey is either getting even more into the Christmas spirit than everyone else, or he’s cold getting paid. The man recently licensed a cover version of the Smiths’ song “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want” to the British department store John Lewis for a holiday-themed ad, and we’ve got that ad below.
Well, that was about the most literal possible interpretation of the song, wasn’t it? The Telegraph reports that the cover comes from the musician, actress, and Colin Farrell ex-wife Slow Moving Millie. The paper also reports that John Lewis had no trouble at all licensing the song; Morrissey was happy to give it up.

This would have been much better if it were “Shoplifters of the World Unite.”
“You Just Haven’t Earned it Yet, Baby. . . You must suffer and cry for a longer time. . . ”
Now THAT would be a true Smiths Christmas, not this sentimental child-greed shite of an ad.
Moz is never going to fall for the “there’s a cat on your head” trick again, is he?
Not long now before Isotoner will license “Hand in Glove”.
