Deftones recently put out a vinyl box set containing the band’s six studio LPs (1995’s Adrenaline, 1997’s Around the Fur, 2000’s White Pony, 2003’s Deftones, 2006’s Saturday Night Wrist, and 2010’s Diamond Eyes) and 2011′s Record Store Day release Covers. We’re giving away one of these boxes, which have become increasingly tough to get. To enter, you need be a fan of Stereogum on Facebook and comment with your favorite Deftones album via Facebook Connect (do not use your ‘Gum user account on this post — we’ll have to be able to check if you are a fan of Stereogum on FB when the sweepstakes ends). US entrants only and the contest ends 11/30 at 12 PM EST. Only 1000 were made, and both official carriers — Deftones.com and Sound Matters — are sold out of their allotments.

It’s a tough call… but, I’m going to have to say White Pony.
White Pony is not only my favorite Deftones album, but my favorite album by anyone EVER.
They are all great. But if I have to choose one, it would be Around the fur.

My favorite is most definitely White Pony. I love all of their albums, but White Pony is just classic. If I were going to have a friend listen to Deftones, I would start with White Pony.

‘White Pony’ is easily their best record, but ‘Adrenaline’ still has that shit that makes you “oooooooooooooooo”
Around the Fur, although a tough call between the first three albums for the energy and creativity and then followed up with the selftitled, SNW and Diamond Eyes.. Awesome legacy so far, and only looking up into the future.
self title album for me. I love how they can turn the ugly feelings of life and make them beautiful in a haunting yet soothing wave of emotions and distortion.

White Pony, always and forever.
It came down to Saturday Night Wrist or Whte Pony for me. Ultimately my favorite is WHITE PONY. All of their albums affect me in a different way and it is difficult to pin down a favorite-especially their last 3 releases- they are so unique from eachother yet still hold the classic Deftones elements that made me an instant fan from Adrenaline and on. I love Diamond Eyes but I admit I miss Chi on bass very much- still a great album however-they really went back to their roots and at the same time brought refreshing material to the table.

Though I LOVE every single one of their albums, Diamond Eyes. Its my favorite because its as if the self-titled and Around the Fur (which tie for 2nd place on my list of favorites) had a baby and made Diamond Eyes, and it is absolute perfection!

Each and every Deftones album has had an amazing impact on my life. It is so hard to narrow it down to one but I guess from front to back I have to go with White Pony. Even though Saturday Night Wrists and Around the Fur AND Adrenaline come to mind (Diamond Eyes is not bad, just has not been the soundtrack to my life as much as the others), White Pony used to totally transport my mental state to a place no one else could see. That album came out at a time in my life where it was a perfect escape from the things I was dealing with at the time. I am forever greatful for what this band has done for me in my life as well as many others. Even though I am growing older and finding new things to listen to, Deftones will ALWAYS be welcome in my ears and that will never change. One
