Merriweather Post Pavilion, Bitte Orca, is any label having a better year than Domino? Wherever that pair sits them, the bar’s raised once more with Two Dancers, the sophomore set from British art-pop troupe Wild Beasts (and, incidentally, one of my favorite albums this year). We’ve brought you the buoyant “All The King’s Men,” but you can (and should) hear the whole album.. This latest single also makes great fodder for their latest video, putting vocalists Hayden Thorpe, Tom Fleming, and the rest of the Beasts in the wild, dressed like monks and calling off a UK XX-chromosed roll call (“Girls from Rodean, girls from Shipley, from Hounslow, girls from Whitby”). The woods look enchanted in the same way the band’s crisp yet somehow mystical pop backdrop is. And for that matter, so do the ladies. Elsewhere on the album it’s all about a “Freudian slip, the slip of my slipper in your bits” and their “booty call, my boot … up in your asshole,” but for these few minutes Wild Beasts are sweet, pretty, theatrical, and fiery — with a video to match.
Make sure to take it:
Also, here’s the video for the excellent first single, “Hooting And Howling”:
Two Dancers is out 9/8 via Domino. That night they’re playing their NYC debut (and only their second US show ever) at Joe’s Pub, with two more dates in the city before heading back overseas. You should catch them:
09/08 – New York, New York @ Joe’s Pub
09/10 – New York, New York @ Mercury Lounge
09/11 – Brooklyn, New York @ Union Pool
See you at Joe’s.

Some crazy druid shizzle right there. They should get together with YACHT who also like rituals in the great outdoors. Lovely song and video actually. And I would say that in addition to Domino, Fat Possum are having a pretty fine year as well.
could you fix the link?
Love this song. That is some bitchin’ falsetto!
If you haven’t heard their 1st album “Limbo, Panto”, look for the video for “The Devil’s Crayon”. Best Song of ’08 IMO. The queue outside Joe’s Pub will probably be massive but I’m there.
PS – Checked your website. Good stuff. Good luck with your band.
That ^^^^^^ was supposed to be a reply for “a’tris”.
Awesome!
