On last night’s episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, M83 rolled through to perform their spiraling-skyward monster jam “Midnight City.” Watching the band work the song out live, it’s pretty amazing how precisely all the members hit their marks, with nearly every member playing a couple of different instruments. Plus: So many electronic doohickeys! How do they keep them all straight? And the moment where the guy wanders out and rips into the sax solo? Oh man. Game over. Watch it below; it’s great.
M83′s Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming is out now on Mute, but you already knew that.

Hulu clips can’t be accessed from Canada. Weak.
Not from Europe either, but you can see the clip here: http://www2.latenightwithjimmyfallon.com/video/m83-midnight-city-112111/1369921/
Wow, that girl looks like a cross between a horse and a chicken playing that INCREDIBLY easy beat.
Very difficult to masturbate to.

I can’t tell if the tone of that write up is sarcastic or not. I love M83 but this performance definitely has a lot of tracks playing.
Seriously. Until the dude with the saxophone came out I felt like I was watching some pretty subpar karaoke. Saxman totally saved that performance. And I love this song and album.
This was ok but not nearly as good as Tom made it out to be. I love M83 and have seen them (him; Anthony) live a few times…I’d be lying if I said the live shows will blow you away. Most of the magic happens in the studio.
I completely agree. The two times I’ve seen them/him, I felt the drums needed to be louder. I was also saddened by the lack of face-melting sax solo on “Midnight City”.
