The Roots have been building toward undun for a little over a month now, supplying weekly videos for undun tracks as well as sharing three parts of the album’s four-part “Redford” suite with us. this album is making a strong case for my gummy vote right now.
This is so, so good. Wow. Sleep and One Time stuck out the most to me initially, but I can tell this is an album that I’ll have multiple favorites for the more I listen to it. The beat on Sleep is incredible though. FUCK.
Minutes 12:00-39:00 are going to be pretty difficult to top this year. WTT will get lots of deserved attention, but this is one of the stronger hip-hop albums I’ve heard this year.
