A snippet of the Constantines and Feist’s whispery “Islands In The Stream” has been circulating for a while, but we finally have a full stream. Yes, you can now stream “Islands In The Stream” (and buy it on a limited-edition 7″, if you want). Any good? Well, Bryan Webb’s gruff Strummer proves stronger than Feist’s out-of-breath squeak … still, decent. We like it better than the Magic Numbers’ crowd-pleasing “Guilty Pleasures” version, though, again, nobody does it like Kenny & Dolly. But then, we know what Feist does best is “1 2 3 4,” which, P4K reports, she recently recorded for an episode of Sesame Street. (L.L. Kool J’s doing the Street, too. Hopefully he wears a shirt. If not, hopefully he remembers to clean the deodorant from his pits.)

  1. Would’ve been better with ODB.

  2. Kenny Chesney?

  3. I am a huge Dolly Parton fan (unfortunately, I usually have to hide this). That being the case, I really enjoyed this version of the song. I like when the mood of a song is changed, and I feel like the mood in the Feist/Constantine version is a little less optimistic. Almost as if they’re trying to reassure each other that things will work out, rather than the Dolly/Kenny version which seemed as if they were shouting it on the rooftops.
