At the Hollywood Bowl a few nights earlier, Psychedelic Furs were joined by Brandon Flowers on “Pretty In Pink.” On Friday at LA’s Club Nokia Richard Butler handled vocal duties on his own, and it’s probably better that way. The iconic new wavers were in their rightful place, headlining a bill that included fellow Brit throwbacks Happy Mondays (Shaun worked the teleprompter, but after all those pills, thrills, and bellyaches he deserves plaudits for standing upright) and Amusement Parks On Fire, who are in LA working on LP3.
