Congrats to Ray and Danny on creating the new Interpol website. I don’t have strong opinions about Interpol like these people, but I do love Spoon, so here you go:

OK, enough about Interpol. Does anyone have the Dungen CD? I’m really intrigued by Pitchfork’s write-up.

UPDATE: Mark‘s got a Dungen track and it does not disappoint.

  1. nice mp3. anyone heard the automator mix?

  2. I have the Dungen CD.

    Drop me a line.

  3. I got it a few weeks ago @ Other Music before Pitchfork
shot their wad over it, and it’s gotten better with each listen. I have littleclue about the “band” (actually just some dude named Gustav) other than they are Swedish, sing is Swedish, and the CD sound like it was recorded it the late sixties. This isn’t even their first album, though it’s the first I heard of them.

Really one of the better rock albums I have heard in 2004.

  4. The Dungen disc is fantastic—it’s floating around on someone’s iTunes here at work. Definitely pick it up.

  5. Thanks Keith!

  6. The Dungen album is easily my favorite album of the year — so good that I was will to pay the $24 for an import copy. It’s available on Soulseek and will probably be a lot easier to find within the next few weeks.

you can also order the dungen cd from
    http://www.skivhugget.se/eng/

    for $21.13

  8. Usually when I see Pitchfork review a cd with a title like “Ta Det Lugnt” I don’t even bother reading, figuring it will be another obscure Norwegian/Czechoslavakian/Iranian drum ‘n bass/psychpunkpopbluegrass band or some crap like that. “In obscurity lies hipness” should be there slogan.

I think they’re getting better, though. Futureheads, Arcade Fire, their recommends have become more listenable over the past year or so. I was impressed that they actually bothered listening to, let alone liked, the new Green Day. (Which is fat-fucking brilliant, btw.)

  9. Ugh, hate me a there/their/they’re mix-up. I’m embarrassed.

  10. I have the dungen… its fantastic.

  11. Dungen is playing the Vice 10th anniversary party next month in NY.

ahhhh thank you for posting the britt daniel remix. i sadly couldn’t find the 7″ of it yet and now i feel less impatient.

  13. i actually like the britt daniel remix better… but is it just because i think britt is so dreamy?? what? did i just say that?? oops.

dungen isn’t so bad, the music works all around but i can’t seem to find a way to enjoy the vocals. i’m pretty sure he’s singing with his mouth closed and letting all of the sound come straight through his nose.

Going to see Dungen in Manchester tomorrow, I’ve heard they’re great live, anyone else seen them.

Ta Det Lugnt is ace, get it now, last years album of the year in my opinion.
