Someone has to reissue all those lost Bonnie Raitt records! As Pitchfork reports, Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon has started a new label called Chigliak, named after a character on Northern Exposure. The label, an imprint of Jagjaguwar, will release new records, and it’ll also reissue albums that were “never released commercially” or were “locally released but never put on vinyl.”
The label plans to reissue It’s All Aquatic, a largely unheard album from the Wisconsin band Amateur Love, which included future Vernon bandmates and Megafaun members Brad and Phil Cook. The label also intends to release music from Vernon-friendly artists like Sarah Siskind and 12 Rods.

Anyone who has heard Hazeltons or Self-Record should be excited about this
Northern exposure was filmed in the town of Roslyn Washington. Roslyn is also the name of a bon iver song. What is his fascination with the town of Roslyn?
Cool though, I’m glad he’s doing this.
Vernon got the name “Bon Iver” from a Northern Exposure episode (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lygv4IAZPKc @1:40)
Oh, interesting. Thanks for that information. I actually live about 30 mins from Roslyn. It’s a pretty neat little town. The population has really dwindled, but it’s still got some very interesting history, not to mention the creepiest cemetery ever.
I hear he’s trying to reform the original line up of Chicago with Peter Cetera.
Not diggin’ the logo, but this is super cool on his part.
