One of the most anticipated releases of the 2012 release calendar is Cloud Nothings’ upcoming Attack On Memory, a record produced by Steve Albini that showcases Dylan Baldi & Co. trying out a rougher, brasher sound. We’ve caught a glimpse of some of that texture through album tracks “No Future/No Past” and “Stay Useless,” and now Cleveland rock blog Headnoz has a stream of the record’s entirety. Stream Attack On Memory after the jump.
Attack On Memory is out 1/24 on Carpark. A while back, Dylan Baldi walked us through a playlist of songs that influenced the making of Attack On Memory for an installment of Under The Influence.

This album is just sick. It is taking every last ounce of my strength to make hyperbolic statements in January about how this album will be best in 2012. So instead, I’ll just say this…if there’s anything better than this in 2012, then 2012 is shaping up to be one hell of a year for music.
To *not* make hyperbolic statements…
Engineered by Steve Albini, not produced.
I love the Wild Nothings!
No, it’s Cloud Control, silly!
Great stuff solid albun
The album is phenomenal. Although I don’t want to say it is the best album of 2012, It will definitely have a lasting effect in the years to come.
I’m always hesitant to show a lot of love for an album so early on in the year, but it’s pretty great. I took away a lot of Jawbox and Wire influence from my many listens. My only criticism is that it’s too short a listen and ends too soon, but then again, so are most punk albums.
can’t wait to hear this
I have this on repeat indefinitely. It really is an incredible record regardless of the relase date.
I heard “No Future No Past” a while ago and was thinking how different they sounded on this album from their last and how impressed I was that they would totally change their sound like that. Just now I realized I was thinking of Wild Nothing the whole time and I’ve never listened to Cloud Nothings before.
Having said that, this is good.
Such a great band, with such a boring and typical sounding band name.
Maybe i should call my band ‘Memory Cloud’ or something
