The Fatboy Slim album has been available on P2P for a few months, so I’ve given it a good many listens. It’s an interesting album; less of a dance album than a pop/rock album informed with dance elements. I’d rank it as better than his last one, “Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars”, but nowhere near the level of infectious geniusness of “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby” (which featured “Praise You”, “The Rockafella Skank”, etc.)
FBS new one is better than Gutter. As good as YCALWB. Can’t touch Better Living…but what can?
who gives two shits for Tom Waits? the man has steel wool for a voice, like he swallowed that Joplin bitch. he can write songs for others to cover, and they always sound better than anything he can do himself. guess that puts him in the same category as Doug Sahm…great songwriter, pain-inducing voice.
Bah, I bought both the Black Keys album (fantastic!) and the Blues Explosion’s albums. The latter has fantastic contributions, and although it’s maybe less musically compelling it’s very cool.
I’m gonna send you a package with some crap in it soon up to the VH1 offices..Can I just drop it off? It seems silly to spend money on postage when you’re right uptown.
and the sign said Long-haired freaky people, need not apply, and the sign said Long-haired freaky people, need not apply, and the sign said Long-haired freaky people, need not apply…
Ah yes, more repetitious yet catchy tunes from Norman Cook.
Does anyone know where I can watch a clip of Tom Waits performing on Letterman last night? Missed it, and would love to see it…heard he was great. mucho gracias.
whats that song you posted… i have the original by the five man electrical band, but i want that version which just has “and the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply” repeated
if you know what im talking about let me know

“Praise You” was amazing.
I have to say that this version of “The Joker” is really disappointing. Maybe I just had too high expectations.
The Blues Explosion album is mediocre in comparison to the Black Keys new one.
As for the Tom Waits, I’ll just say that he’s as crazy as ever; this album fits very nicely into Pitchfork’s newly defined “wtf” genre.
r.e.m: please retire.
