Last month, the Boss returned with the old-school anguished stadium-stomper “We Take Care Of Our Own,” and today he’s debuted the video for that track. The clip, which helpfully prints all the lyrics onscreen and which intermingles footage of serious-looking Bruce with salt-of-the-earth Americana imagery, is really nothing to write home about. But it’s always fun to watch Springsteen being Springsteen. Check it out below.

Springsteen’s new album Wrecking Ball is out 3/6. And when Bruce hits the road with the E Street Band this year, Clarence Clemons’s nephew will replace the late Big Man, which I think is awesome.

“The clip… is really nothing to write home about.”
Actually, it is in a literal sense. The video was filmed in the streets of Asbury Park. Also, Willie Nile directed it.
Actually, I’m not so sure about that last detail. The way this story could mean a few different things:
“Clad in a dark leather jacket, The Boss braved the chilly temps and gusty winds to film a video with his pal, singer-songwriter Willie Nile…”
I’m seeing Bruce in DC in April and I’ve been wondering what they’d do for sax. That’s fucking awesome that they’re taking big man’s nephew with them.
I can’t wait to hit the toilets during this song when I see him this summer.
Have to give Springsteen credit: at least he’s stepping up, and coming out in support. Most other bands seem scared to death.
Here’s another new protest track, this one a cover of the fist-shaking 60s protest / garage rock anthem “NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME”: http://tinyurl.com/7p93vvm
The lyrics are all too relevant:
“There’s a new sun rising up angry in the sky.
There’s a new voice crying but not afraid to die.
Let the old world make believe it’s blind and deaf and dumb
BUT NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME.
There are changes lying ahead on every road.
There are new thoughts ready and waiting to explode.
When tomorrow is today, the bells will toll for some.
BUT NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME.
The future’s coming on sweet and strong,
And no-one’s gonna hold it back for long…
There are new dreams crowding out old realities.
There’s revolution sweeping in like a fresh new breeze.
Let the old world make believe it’s blind and deaf and dumb,
BUT NOTHING CAN CHANGE THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME. “
(BTW, the whole album is pretty decent, if you are into that vintage 60s garage rock thing. It’s a free download http://tinyurl.com/7od26by)
