One of the latest additions to the Matador roster is a largely unheralded be-flanneled Austin four-piece called the Young, who released an album called Voyagers Of Legend on Mexican Summer last year. The band’s sophomore album, entitled Dub Egg, is coming in a few months from Matador, and the label has kindly posted the LP’s opening track: “Livin’ Free,” a bit of sprawling, ragged guitar-centric breeziness that carries a vague Built To Spill aftertaste. It is pretty great. The track they included on the Matador vinyl compilation was also very good as well. Matador doesn’t mess around with who they sign, I tell ya.
