The video for the Converse-sponsored Gorillaz/James Murphy/Andre 3000 single “DoYaThang” debuted today, and it features creepily lifelike CGI versions of the various cartoon Gorillaz, all ambling around their absolutely disgusting hovel of a house. Gorillaz visual guru Jamie Hewlett directs, and the X-faced Andre clone shows up in all sorts of unexpected locations. It’s an extremely British little burst of surrealism. Watch it at YouTube.

I love the gorillaz. I enjoy the song. But that video was boring.
That was so much less fun than the teaser made me think it would be, sadly.
I like the style of this video a lot. The whole house reminds of of living in shitty accommodations during University…though never quite that bad. As for people not ‘getting it’ it seems about as comprehensible as most other music videos. I don’t think there is much to get beyond this being a typical morning for 2-D.
I thought this was awesome. The animation and the movements of the characters is oddly fascinating to me.
