Mirel Wagner

We’ve already heard “No Death,” the dark and tingly single from the Finnish/Ethiopian singer-songwriter and BTW Mirel Wagner. And below, we’ve got another song from her new self-titled album. It’s called “The Road.” Like “No Death,” it’s spare and eerie and bleak.” And like “No Death,” it’ll echo around in your skull long after it ends. Below, download the song and check out Wagner’s SXSW itinerary. Like just about everyone else, Wagner will be all over Austin next week.

And now, her SXSW schedule:
3/12 – PureVolume Party @ Roy’s Austin (340 E. 2nd St., 2AM)
3/14 – RED/Sony Party @ Red 7 (611 E. 7th St., 8PM)
3/15 – Pop Montreal Party @ Spill Bar (212 E. 6th St., 2PM)
3/16 – North By North Austin @ Weirdo’s (12408 N. Mopac Expwy, 4PM)
3/17 – KVRX Party @ Domy Books (913 E. Cesar Chavez, 4PM)
3/17 – KevChino Party @ Maison D’Etoile (2109 E. Cesar Chavez, 7PM)

  1. No need to listen, complete trash.

    • Yeesh. You sound like one of those ultra-conservative anti-immigration Finns.

Anyhow, as someone who actually did listen, I think it’s a beautiful track. I admire how Wagner’s voice can be somber but delicate enough that her songs don’t feel so heavy that I can’t listen to them repeatedly (which is somewhat of the problem that I have with Doe Paoro).
