Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival won’t announce its lineup until next week, but the organizers have been hinting at who might appear by posting ads on Chicago’s transit system. Those ads are usually a bit of plain text, featuring a lyric from a song that might belong to one of the acts playing the festival. As Consequence Of Sound reports, those ads are teasing the beginnings of what could be a pretty great festival bill. Thus far, they’ve included lyrics from Jack White, Sigur Rós, M83, Justice, the Weeknd, Bloc Party, Santigold, Twin Shadow, Die Antwoord, and Kimbra. There’s also a ton of speculation around bands like the Black Keys and the Shins, who seem to have gaping Chicago-sized holes in their touring schedules.

Crap! I was really hoping M83 would return to pitchfork this year for a headlining spot either Saturday or Sunday night.
Lollapalooza always crams in a bunch of huge mainstream and indie names who all seem to be at the peak of success come August. It looks great on paper, but when the set times comes out and there’s ample conflicts and overlap, it’s as questionable as the WWE stacking all their roster weight behind big man superstars after last night’s Raw, leading you to wonder if the Daniel Bryans and CM Punks are in danger of becoming secondary to the The Rocks, Lesnars, potential Batista returns and Cenas.
This is already the best lineup east of Coachella this year
In my opinion Bonnaroo trumps them both. Besides the fact that Roo is an overall better festival experience , I think it has a stronger and more diverse lineup than Cochella or lolla.
Roo vs Coachella
They both have:
Radiohead
Bon Iver
The Shins
Feist
St. Vincent
SBTRKT
Flying Lotus
Tune-Yards
Black Lips
Childish Gambino
Grouplove
Gary Clark Jr.
Santigold
Fitz and the Tantrums
In my opinion after looking at what is left on both sides Bonnaroo wins and it definitely has a more diverse mix of genres.
my girlfriend saw a Washed Out hint on the L this morning…”you feel it all around yourself”
Coming from the UK to Lolla this year, wanted to try something different. Really happy with Sigur Ros, Jack White, M83, really hoping for Beck and Smashing Pumpkins as well.
YES! beck and smashing pumpkins would make me get all beatle-mania about lolla this year
