Well shit, this is pretty great. Michel Gondry tag teams with Björk for the seventh time (and first in a decade, taking it back to B’s “Bachelorette” days) and he conjures a concept for the Icelandic queen and her army of me. See Björk’s using those same strings that slavishly bind to rupture the system (and the tweeters), to inject some new color to the scene, to shake you free of societal shackles by militaristically stomping and shaking your ass. And seriously who doesn’t believe in the emancipatory power of bright colored paint?

Volta is out now. Hear Michel talk shop on the clip here. And remember kids: Be kind. Rewind.

yeah I have to agree. I love bjork and gondry and this was just nothing special at all. IT doesn’t help that that is one of bjork’s worst songs ever.

  4. She must have found her old ATARI TEENAGE RIOT albums?

This doesn’t really work as a finished product. Watching Gondry talk about it is a lot more interesting. Maybe it’s because the studio version of this song is so lifeless… I dunno. The idea for the video is really cool, but it just falls short in execution I suppose.

I agree, definitely sounded/looked better in the Gondry interview/behind the scenes fesaturette…..Bjork looks good, though…

I thought that was sweet. Bjork, that was intense.

I think the end result was great! The rhythm of the group bouncing and the white banner being raised coincided really well together. I appreciated the video a lot more having watched the behind-the-scenes viddy that was posted last week or the week prior. If you didn’t like this, you should go watch that and see what you think then.
