You’d probably watch if it was two and a half minutes of Zooey sleeping, but with its animated beheadings, undead nuns, and Pac-Man ghosts, She & Him’s first music video is much more fun/morbid. Director Ace Norton’s blog hinted at the costume changes and green screen, but not that the singer ends up in a pool of (cartoon) blood. Tonight Zooey and Matt stopped by FNMTV to premiere the clip and kick it with LL Cool J. She should be in pictures.

Another kind of funny / weird ghosty one is “Set you free” by the Black keys, although, it’s Zooey-less….

Did anybody watch this on MTV it was weird? Before they showed the video they were interviewed by Pete Wentz in front of a live audience then he introduced the video to smoke and rockets going off. After the video he threw it back up to the skybox where the Game and two other guys discussed it.

i thought they really produced the album perfectly and knew what they were doing with the whole retro country two-piece thing, in a way that made them seem pretty authentic. but that video was awful and cheesy in a bad way. still a great song though.
The real question is…what did The Game have to say about this. Love zooey, love M. ward, really like this album….and this video sucks. She clearly needed more and better direction/direction period, and a better overall match for the music tone wise. Did no one submit a better idea than this? Seriously? Stupid ace norton.
The Game said he liked it and now he knows how to get blood into his videos just make it cartoon blood.

As soon as she puts on that cowboy hat, two things happen to me: I don’t want to listen to the crappy song anymore, and then all I can think of is “Cuntry Boner”.
i love it. i thought it was going to be really generic, but it’s creative and fun and really fits the song, i think. great job.
she’s cute and all, but i was expecting something much more ambitious from she & him.
i dig it. something different to watch and its short enough that it doesnt over do it or like drag on.

It’s strange — sometimes in this video Zooey looks so awkward that I find myself thinking: “Sheesh, that girl could use some acting lessons.” But — get this!– she IS an actress! And really only 2/3rds that awkward.
And I enjoyed the video. It was bad, but good.
I just skip the video and rent Hitchhiker’s Guide….
