Gruff just scored his second Mercury Prize shortlisting, for his electro-oriented album with Boom Bip as Neon Neon (the first was for Super Furry Animals’ Rings Around The World in 2001). So it’s a nice time for this decadent combo-vid for the glitzy pop of “I Told Her On Alderaan” and the powered by Spank Rock, stripper friendly “Trick For Treat.” Gruff steers clear of the video shoot, and maybe that’s for the best — it’s nothing but lapdances, bras, and other nearly NSFWisms, and keeping a family friendly face is truly the gift that keeps giving.

If you miss Gruff’s mug, though, try “I Lust U.” Stainless Style is out via Lex.

  1. Yeah, SFA and Gruff are totally family-friendly. *cough* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Don%27t_Give_a_Fuck *cough*

Anyways, I’m a big fan of SFA and his solo career, but I find Stainless Style pretty hit and miss. The video is meh but I like the transition from song to song half-way through.

Neon Neon has produced some of the best pop this year. Good to see that the Mercury Prize has given them props

  3. Really? A Mercury nod for this? Huh.
